Elysium Exoskeleton, Part 1: The Designs

  • It's begun! I am attempting to build a working exoskeleton similar to the one shown in Elysium, but instead of CGI... it will work!
    Using pneumatic cylinders, an industrial festo valve bank, and a whole bunch of 1" x 1" perforated steel tube, you can watch my progress as I slowly build the coolest thing ever.

    hey +the hacksmith Hey man I've noticed that a lot of people are asking the following questions:
    •what is the program you used
    •what is the pistons that you used

    •how much money did it take
    That's why i suggest you make a link in the description or on the screen that'll take us to a page containing all the asked info
    please consider my suggestion and keep up the good work

      Google is your friend =)
      They are literally just called pneumatic cylinders. If you want to build one yourself you're going to have to learn a bit about fluid power before you jump right in and start building something -- these components can be very dangerous! The cylinders I used have a 4" stroke with a 1.5" bore diameter. They are double acting, which means they can both push and pull.

    btw love the new designs

    • @hacksmith
      @hacksmith  9 лет назад

      These cylinders are 38.1mm bore with 150mm stroke.
      A 16mm bore at 125PSI will only give you about 38lbs of force, which means if you're using it like I am (acting on a lever) the resultant force at the end will be much much less... so short answer... if it's for an exo, definitely not big enough.
