Two tracks I wrote randomly on the same oiece of paper having heard them at different times on radio 3. Judee Sill 'Lopin' and Karen Dalton 'Blues on the Ceiling'.
Sorry but I prefer the original version. It's more raw and her voice sounds more emotional and I can listen to her singing all day and the violins are fantastic.
The original is so much more impactful for me because of the band's close empathy, especially the piano and the violin. But it's a blessing to have this alternate version. I believe this song may be Karen singing to herself about her own drug use which was a problem during the recording of the album, and which led her to end up dying young on the streets of New York. Friends in the early 70s went to see her in the Village and her huge stage fright made her leave the stage and not complete the show. I have read that she apparently bought into the idea that the artist, being so much more sensitive, has more need of substances. Don't know who plays on this version, but some of the musicians on the album went on to play behind Janis Joplin in the Full Tilt Boogie Band. Perhaps they were referred to Janis because of having backed Karen, another scratchy-voiced singer.
I like this version better than the album version. I think everything that everything that version contains is concealed here. This one shows how things doesnt always have to be expressed att full level to still be felt.
Sounds like a new backing track with an alternate vocal put on top. If this were original I would at least expect where it came from, the musicians and producer to be listed in the credits.
I wonder who the musicians are on this cut - can't be the same people from the album version. Sounds like more polished/studio ready guys than the album version(who were kind of ragged, but made a more emotionally impactful version). Anybody got any details on where this version came from and who played on it?
... the phrasing here is excellent(!), much more better than in the album version... it also has a greater emotional expression due to it´s more regular pitch, distance(?), softness and evenness in my opinion... it´s deeper...
I'm not sure what your motivation was in creating this, but I have to say you missed the mark. By increasing the "bounce" of the music you have diminished the emotional impact of the vocal. It's also obviously an overdub, as the tempo and accents of the vocal are out of sync with the backing. I suggest you keep the backing track and seek an appropriate singer to re cut the vocal. You may end up with a first rate cover version.
@@lancejohnson127 Hi.Do you actually understand the issue? The original track by Karen is AMAZING. This phony "remix" has drums added that do not fit, and an obtrusive steel guitar that tends to conflict with the vocal.
How dare you all that lot make her a knew thing to sell make the money as the new person they have found How funking dare you we all knew her She didn't want to be found by you lot Irony lost on people who don't care about......
This is a complete forgery. The backing is recently recorded. The vocal, in a different TEMPO, has been lifted off the original recording and slapped down on this FAKE. StashPuppets is a phuqer. And to all the geniuses of "what does it mean?" - the song is not Karen's. It was given to her by the writer. ... there's this internyet thing - so go find out.
The phrasing is so terrible over this backing track must have taken ages and still the sync sucks, how depressing, cheerful backing track tho, should record vocals like someone mentioned instead of this vampired Frankenstein version
nothing more to add. just want you tube too keep this profiled. karen was a queen
amazing song, i can listen to this on repeat for a long time
oh yes .... its sooo crazy good ... light in the atic just released this version... thats how i found it... share it with the world ... sooo so good
a life saver...
Karen Dalton & Judee Sill, daughters of the heart & sisters of the soul.....
Two tracks I wrote randomly on the same oiece of paper having heard them at different times on radio 3. Judee Sill 'Lopin' and Karen Dalton 'Blues on the Ceiling'.
Love both of them each 1 as a sound of its own
Sorry but I prefer the original version. It's more raw and her voice sounds more emotional and I can listen to her singing all day and the violins are fantastic.
So beautiful, thank you
Love this ❤
Qué bellas las filmaciones de Karen

She died in a rented trailer owned by Peter Walker in West Hurley, NY on Eagles Nest Rd. The trailer is still there.
Love the bass in this
whoa...this is very different. i need to let it sink in....
Sounds like too many people got their hands on this version..some one said..how can we make this sound more country!...
I like this version better than the album version. I think everything that everything that version contains is concealed here. This one shows how things doesnt always have to be expressed att full level to still be felt.
Te amo,me haces tanto bien.
Completely bizarre! I love it for it's difference..can't go past the album version, though. Her vocal line is amazing.

me too, this almost sounds too happy with the synth.
this alternate mix is so much better than the perfect original version. unique and great.

Thanks for this, it's kinda nice, though I prefer the other.

Those original musicians were the best... look it up. Oh, forget it. You're a Modern.

How to destroy a song in minutes
The voice is better on this one

She didn't want to be found by you lot
Irony lost on people who don't care about......
this version belongs on a Starbucks compilation.
(that is Not a compliment lest any dunderheads think it is)
no.
