Liking this piece at this age, she's cute , intensly into it, and as others have said,, the orchestra members are like loving this little one's playing, that's the best part of her playing, she gets you into what is going on and can't believe how it's being done at this age.. just beyond this universe .
True but you must realize this Chopin contest took place in Hartford Connecticut, not the Chopin contest out of Poland and at that time, as I recall, the contest was only 2 or 3 years old.
I have a book called "The Great Pianists from Mozart to the Present by Harold C. Schonberg" first published in 1963. Umi Garrett needs a chapter in a new edition.
Umi is actually one of my close friends as we went to the same school together before she went to college. I asked her about this moment and she said one of the only things she remembered was the concertmaster who wept
Which Liszt composition is this???? Scratch that. I have since learned that she is playing "Gnomereigen" (Dance of the Gnomes), the second work in Liszt's "Two Concert Etudes, S.145."
NO, she isn't, her father is American and her mother is Japanese. And they are not musicians, so it is amazing how she has such musical genius. Watch her performance playing Bethoveen Moonlight Sonata, (THird Movement) when she was 14 years old, she plays it in excellent way.
I love how the other orchestra members are just watching her in awe... you're such a wonderful pianist, Umi!
I love the looks on the faces of the orchestral players! At the end, the first violin is wiping tears away!
A wonderful performance from a very gifted and unassuming young girl.
We need to watch this young talent.
So am I, every time watch this performance. Umi is absolutely awesome.
Breath-taking performance. BRAVO, Umi!
Simply amazing! Congratulations on winning the competition!
Also wanted to say I loved the wonderful pictures of Umi with the umbrella at the sea. Thank you for that also beautiful art of work from Mtro Wada :D
Superb! One of my favourite Umi videos.
Certainly Umi is becoming a piano virtuoso in her own right ! Congratulations !
Wow!!! A real jaw dropping performance.

She did indeed say that. Apparently she is the only winner to have received a perfect score from the judges in the history of the competition.

Breathtaking virtuosity by any high standard. Bravo!
You're just fantastic Umi!!!

Absolute Class. A fantastic performance by any standard.

Dork diaries thanks for sharing, this is such a wonderful performance. So glad someone recorded this!
Cute and I like her emotion when she plays. I like bold piano players (like Maksim) and fast songs ;)

Irina Leitman you look like the violinist lady in the upfront.
Impressionante...Splendida, direi DIVINA 👍👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
She owns this piece.
Umi, you're so talented.
Best child I've ever seen!
Onvoorstelbaar, wat een

Amazing! A true prodigy!!!
lol i thought i was the only one who wept
the violinist with a goatee beard apparently did too. dont blame him:)
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear this is all CGI. Just amazing how anyone, much less a 10-year-old, can play like this.
Fast and accurate of her exquisite performance is like a leather beam
First violinist is crying by the end
That's Umi :)
wow, winner!
Am in awe 😱
So young but she can play the piano like a rocket ! 😅

Almost supernatural.
Oh that's supernatural.
i bet that violinist must be either her dad or her teacher,,,,that was a good performance her got :-D
Nakatunganga ang lahat dai!
Winner!
The Best.)
The string players are awe struck.
İnanılmaz/incredible
When you realize that a little kid plays these Franz Liszt GODAMN etudes, and you still playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...
Umi Garret est fantastique. N'est-ce pas Emmanuelle ?
우미의 매력^^무섭게 피아노치고 아무일 없었다는 듯 해맑게 웃기. 90도 인사^^
0 dislikes are jealous ones!
Blooming hell what piece is this?
Gabriel 2 years late but it’s Gnomenreigen

야무지게 잘 친다^^옥구슬 굴러가는 듯한 소리~♡
i thought the video was on fast-forward O_O
最近、これと同じ曲で日本のとっぷりという小学六年生の動画をみたのですが、ウミのレベルとは雲泥の差で、いかにウミがすごいかわかりました!
Is she related to David garret
NO, she isn't, her father is American and her mother is Japanese. And they are not musicians, so it is amazing how she has such musical genius. Watch her performance playing Bethoveen Moonlight Sonata, (THird Movement) when she was 14 years old, she plays it in excellent way.
