I have a different interpretation for the song than some of the earlier comments. The shoes represent his city life. He is comfortable there. He is visiting home, but he is not there mentally. He is constantly on the phone (1:23 and 1:53), he is bored at the wedding, and he is not interested in talking to some of his friends (1:44 - 1:47). In general, he has moved on from his childhood home and is comfortable with his city life and friends. But then he sees his childhood crush. They go to school. And he realizes that his childhood home was not bad. There were many good things about about it. He smiles when he sees a photo of him playing football as a kid. The message on the board in school - where is your home - points to this as well. So at the end he lets go of his shoes (city life affection) and learns to embrace and accept his 'home' where he grew up. This is kinda shown in the two hugs they share. See the difference in the hugs at 2:07 and 3:29. In the second hug, he is not just embracing his friend, but also the idyllic streets that dot his hometown. The sneakers represents things the guy is afraid to loose because he loves them. he didn't even went inside the Mandir just because he fears that they will get stollen, aslo he didn't liked putting his clothes in the almira ,and he puts them back in the bag which represents how he don't like coming out his comfort zone and his perspective towards life is kinda stiff and unhappy. but when he met his love he realised nothing is compared to her and he gives her whatever he loves like his time, his care and his shoes which we can say his shoes represents the style of life he has been living and he is afraid to loose it but after coming out of his fears and comfort zone he realises and gives them to her as a sign of love . To me, this video is about thinking that you “made it big”, you achieved the dream that you’ve always chased, but that dream is usually just a set of westernized ideals (the sneakers) that don’t really fit with our own understanding of success. For us success is a thing that you can share with those who you care about (him giving her the sneakers).
