  • In this tutorial we look at non-standard go arounds/discontinued approaches and how to safely execute them whilst not in the landing configuration in the PMDG Boeing 737-800 in Microsoft Simulator.

Captain, you should work for PMDG so they get things right. This clearly wasn't something they tested properly. Thank you very much for the tutorial. It's always interesting when a real world 737 pilot like yourself operates a virtual 737 aircraft and it was quite funny when you go on with "this doesn't work, but in the real aircraft you do this and that..." 😊

To be fair it’s an unusual scenario and one that wasn’t perhaps covered during testing. Hopefully will be updated 😃

@@flightdeck2sim Yes, in the greater scheme of things, it's a good aircraft.

Are you by any chance going to buy and make a cold and dark tutorial for the PMDG 777? Would really love to see that. :-)

Hi, captain😃 i was wondering if you will play the Microsoft flight simulator 2024 when it releases? Or you just going to stick to x plane 12?

Have you tried the non commercial simulation Aerowinx? No exotic scenery but feels like a full systems simulation
It’s a niche product probably used mostly by airline students

Hi Captain, I was wondering, can you deselect the APP key in a IAN approach? Otherwise I suppose that the only way to exit APP is to recycle the flight directors. Thanks and best regards.

If you connect a and b and then press the toga keys, won't we succeed?

Are you sure you cannot just switch mode above 1500ft on the B737? On the B778 you can deselect APP mode above 1500ft.

Unfortunately not. Once APP is engaged and active (FMA G/S) the only way to deselect is to either push TO/GA, recycle flight directors or de-tune ILS.

Would this be similar for the 787 too? I had an issue where I came in high the other day and had to go around but had difficulty making inputs

Someone commented above that you can deselect APP above 1500ft, certainly not possible in the NG
