Description:
Though the NFL has transitioned into a more pass-happy league in the 21st century, a franchise running back can be just as important to a team’s success as a quarterback. The only problem is that it’s always risky to draft a running back early, since so many of them have flopped over the years.
Today we dive into the NFL's 10 biggest running back draft busts ever.

u said Lawrence Maroney was drafted by the pats in 2006 and spent 4 seasons with them and was out of the league by 2006.
Bubble Buddy lol
Bubble Buddy another reason why this guy shouldn't do their voiceovers any more
Bubble Buddy lol I heard that too
Yea that was weird
Bubble Buddy ii
Ron Dayne - 1999 Heisman Trophy winner, NCAA Div I All-time leading rusher, 11th overall pick in the 2000 draft...never cracked 800 yards rushing in a season, career avg 3.8 YPC
John Philip 😹😹
John Philip he was a part of a two man rushing attack. His numbers are not that bad if u take that into consideration. He was just an average nfl player but not horrible
Yea but he was drafted in the top 10?
@@andytihonow3676 he was drafted 11th overall man he was supposed to be the next level power back he was an absolute bust man.
There are certainly many more people worse then Knowshon Moreno.
exactly. he wasnt even the biggest rb bust in his draft class. Donald Brown and beanie wells are bigger bust than he is
RequiemForABuckeye maybe in college, even though that's debatable, but definitely not in the pros
They're not saying worst. These are busts. The hype for Moreno was INSANE.
Bob Bobby there were bigger bust than moreno
Maybe but it's subjective and not a crazy opinion. He was #7.
Love your channel and you guys always do a great job. Question why show anyone before 1980? Most viewers probably have no idea who they are and I know there is a host of other people you can replace them with.

Very unfair to pen Ki-Jana Carter as the biggest draft busts at RB considering he suffered a terrible injury in - I believe - his rookie year. He wasn't the same player afterwards - medical technology has come on leaps and bounds since then - yet still managed to stick in the NFL for around a decade. He was the player that the Bengals expected him to be, but that injury simply couldn't have been predicted.
Honorable mention: Montee Ball.
Denver drafted him in 2013 (I think), with LeVeon Bell still on the board. Ball has been out of the league for two years now.
How was maroney out of the nfl in 2006 if his best season was in 2007...
he wasnt a bust and he split carries with marshayn lynch at Minnesota. just a shitty ass video
chad cherry yeah there are other guys that could have easily been ahead of maroney. I think he is just penalizing him for not being as good as Jones drew.
Do top 10 fumbles at the worst moment
broncos vs browns AFC championship game has to be number 1

I played pool with Ki-Jana Carter at Champs in State College, while there was a Mike Tyson fight being shown... as we both disliked Boxing. Very nice guy.
Best Mr. Irrelevant players
Jeffrey Bennett I looked it up. Go figure they all sucked
Jaylon Smith
Chad Kelly just got signed to a four year deal.....
J Nguyen Hasn't played in a game, he might sucked
Jaylon Smith Ryan Succop was alright
J Nguyen every rookie taken in the draft gets a deal similar to that idiot
top ten dumbest decision made by Roger Goodell
Maybe add Stern as well?
I would say that Larry Stegent complemented the Cardinals struggling offence. He came in and struggled...
🤣🤣🤣🤣
had high hopes for richardson. love to see a quarterback episode or a heisman fails. great video too.

Milsurp Mike yes, against fellow hall of famer Aenas Williams
Jojew I guess that’s in your mind as he was inducted in 2014.
Top 10 mr. Irrelevant players
For Blair Thomas, how the hell do you gloss over the fact that the next running back taken after him was EMMITT SMITH, you know, the NFL's all time leader in rushing yards and rushing TDs, 4 time 1st team all pro, 8 time pro bowler, NFL MVP and SB MVP? Part of what makes a draft bust so frustrating is knowing what kind of player you COULD have had instead.
Thank god I love this guy
Lmao every running back on the pats roster was a "Bust"
GeorgeKush 😂😂 New England Cheatriots
Derek Johnson Derek Gayson😂😂😂😂
ultraknight123 😧 I feel sorry for your family
Gay joke and a minecraft avatar. Congratulations youre the most 11 year old the internet has ever seen.
Josh Richardson Dude at least type in a proper sentence.
I didn't even get the notification
Tony Smith - 1992 Atlanta Falcons. He was the pick the Falcons made with the 19th overall pick that they got from Green Bay for Brett Favre. He played 3 seasons totaling 329 yards, 3.8 ypc, and 2 TDs.
dude! You snuck in a picture of Denzel Perryman as alozo highsmith😂😂😂

BigManG81 They had a great draft.
You forgot the T in Can't
GamingWith Carson W
Why is there a picture of Denzel Perryman at 3:33? He was talking about Alonzo Highsmith so I'm confused af😂
That thumbnail was perfect with Trent Richardson completely missing the hole lol
Brian Brown pitiful. absolutely pitiful. it's like he has blinders on everytime he runs or something
Rashaan Salaam RIP but he was a draft bust. Did good his first year then went down hill from there. Ki jana much expected from him. But dude got injured n wasn't the same.
Raiden MK He'll always be the best RB the Memphis Maniax ever had.
tps NFL players that went to the same school and only one was the best and the other was a bust
lol this dude sounds like the narrator on the First 48 😭😂💀
jesus christ the thumbnail i'm deadddddd
Lol Moreno is on here but Montee Ball isn't?
TheCardguy24 I thought the same thing. At least Moreno produced for the team. Ball did absolutely nothing
You have to be drafted in round 1 to be considered a bust...
Kyle 223 That's not true. A bust is a draft pick that doesn't live up to the potential of their draft pedigree. 1st rounders are held to a higher standard for obvious reasons and late rounders carry very little if any risk. But 2nd round picks are extremely valuable as well, therefore very capable of being busts if they don't produce
+Ryan Kosior Most people consider busts as first round picks. All the people in this video were first round picks. Fellow Wisconsin RB Ron Dayne for example, is a bust. William Green is another. Ball was picked at the end of round 2..57 players were picked before he was..He had a good college career(I am from Nebraska so I know all about how good he was)but him being picked that late doesn't qualify him as a bust..He underachieved by 2nd round standards, sure and would have been a bust if he was taken in round 1, but he was not.
Kyle 223 The video includes only 1st rounders yes, but it is a misconception that only 1st rounders are busts. Take Moreno and Ball for instance. Moreno was a 1st round pick, but because he was far more effective than Ball ever was at any point, it would be ridiculous to say Moreno is a bust but Ball is not. I take the word bust to mean that a team didn't get it's return on investment
3:32 Why are you showing Denzel Perryman??
Brad Turner who
Brad Turner thought I was the only one who caught that
Brad Turner Denzel Perryman is a total bust at RB!!! How many rushing touchdowns does he have? I'll wait.
Brad Turner they also showed him in one of their first pictures
the only reason I was reading these comments was to see if anyone else saw that!
why is there a picture of SD Linebacker Denzel Perryman during the Highsmith portion as if to say that Perryman is Highsmith?.
you forgot about tim biakabutuka from the carolina panthers in 2001. he had the one good game and fumbled in that season opener in the end zone...he was never heard from again after that season.
top 10 sleeper picks in the NFL
Mike Jones Tom Brady
The 10 best salaries in sports
They put up a picture of current Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman in his 2014 season at Miami and said it was Alonzo Highsmith, who played like 26 years earlier at the U.
Can you Do 10 Players who became good after one play?
Example: Malcolm Butler, Super Bowl Interception
2:38 OMG ITS DUARTE
Jake Garcia LMAOOOOO
I'm a packers fan bit what about Eddie lacy bring a pretty big bust
Lacy had 2 good seasons
@@mikevismyelement I don’t even remember commenting this 3 years ago 😂😂 Idk why I said this he was clearly a bust. Also, why did you reply now 3 years later?
L. Phillips as a 49er missed a key block which also resulted in QB#8 S. Young's Final NFL Concussion and Game.
Maroney was a good blocking back and was a great receiving back. MJD would have panned out better though. Moreno was very good but they went to a 3 man backfield because of Mile High stadium is difficult to breathe in, due to its severe altitude
Of course TPS finds a way to put the patriots in, What about the Bucs drafting Bo Jackson? Selected first overall and played 0 games for them
Avi Miller he was a bust for them but was great for the raiders
Avi Miller hahahah. complete bust for TB. But given the state of that team and the fact that they cost him his senior baseball year, I'd have bailed on them too
Catchy Gaming he wasnt even that great for them. He didn't have a 1,000 yard season or even a 10 td season. Realistically he was a bust.
Montee ball??????
Brennan Huemann I'm thinking he wasn't included because he wasn't a 1st round pick. I could be wrong. definitely a bust
Brennan Huemann way bigger bust then Moreno
Rahsaan Salaam a Heisman winner who didn’t pan out w/ Da Bears 🐻
As a longtime Penn State NON-fan, I am glad to see three of their players in this list.
Chris Perry..... 1st rounder out of Michigan to the Bengals in 2004, played 5 seasons in Cincy and has as many career rushing touchdowns as I do....
Top 10 Biggest RBs (weight)
Romnell Dexter Eddie lacy has to be #1
geene smith Nah, Jerome Bettis
Joe " refrigerator" perry
The title, clearly goes to Christian Okoye aka Nigerian Nightmare for a reason!
Legaratte blount would be on there
Best season by an individual player at every position
Example: Chris Johnson in 2009
Calvin Johnson 2012
Aj bouye 2017
William Green. Cleveland Browns. 16th overall pick in 2002. His entire career lasted from 2002-2005. 2,000 career yards and only 9 TDs.
Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, John Avery, All FSU RBs it's more I just can't think of em @ this moment
The best Quarterback from every team
^ ^ ^
I have a feeling for your team *Whatever it is* it’s Peyton Manning.
Last time I was this early, Myles Garrett still had hope of a successful career before being drafted by the Browns
I feel bad for him
Andrew Joseph Fabo The Browns actually played this draft really well. They'll do shitty this year but if next year's draft goes aswell as this year's they could have a winning record in less then 2 years
King of the Dragons I know. I'm a browns fan and I'm from Cleveland but I'm just joking around😂
Andrew Joseph Fabo And let's be honest, the Browns didn't have a classic Cleveland browns draft.
Or he'll perform well and demand a fat contract and get traded
Lets not forget it was Lawrence Phillips who missed a key and easy block that led to Steve Young's career ending concussion
Brent Fullwood. 4th pick of the 1987 draft. Drafted by the Packers. First running back chosen, ahead of Highsmith. Poor work ethic. In his last season with the Packers in 1990, he left the game due to stomach cramps in a loss to the Bears after only carrying the ball twice. After the game, he was spotted out on the town partying by some of his teammates and man were they pissed! You don't half-ass it like that, especially against a hated division rival. They reported him to management and they traded him to the Browns the next day. The Browns cut him not long after that and his career ended.
Where's Michael Haddix?
Eaglesfly 16001 or another Eagles running back Leroy Keyes
Eaglesfly 16001 watching bob nelson nosetackle dive every play
That was who I thought would be number one. I feel bad for Carter, he had a horrific knee injury in the preseason of his first year and was never the same afterwards.
NBA players that were on terrible teams
Kobe Bryants Son easy, everyone on those teams lol
Devin Booker
3:32 thats Denzel Perryman 😂
Tim Biakabutuka. Set a school rushing record in college, drafted 8th overall by Carolina. But he never played in more than 12 games and had just 2500 yards over five seasons. Not good for a RB drafted 8th overall
Do you guys believe it was the browns trade that killed Richardson or he was just a bust.
richardson was BAD. He spent one season with the browns and like 4 games of his second season before being traded. Thats TERRIBLE for a 3rd overall pick. if you do that, its because the guy is terrible. if a top ten pick is ever traded before their rookie contract is over, then they are bad. you dont do that to your first round pick unless they suck
Caption Cookie his college resume was good, but I think he just didn't fit well with the Browns system. Happens with most RBs who get immediately drafted in the 1st round teams think they have the right system for them.
Alexander Gilles circular reasoning
Caption Cookie the colts had a bad offensive line, and trent richardson was at best a 3-4th round talent
dj bottoms foh Richardson was highly regarded in that draft.. don't act like a draft prophet in hindsight
The top ten best 7th round picks ever
OnlineGod Gaming Fitzpatrick, he had some good years
Marques Colston and Donald Driver
Trevor Siemian 🐐
Gumby insert other name here
Nice joke😂😂😂
Press Playz chad kelly 🐐
Two running backs on your list had terrible knee injuries there rookie year. Larry Stegent tore his ACL in 1968, at that time it was over with that type of injury. Ki-Janna Carter did the same in 1995. The fact that he played for a few more years is a tribute to medical science and his toughness.
I ran for four touchdowns during fall homecoming game back in 71 at Polk High.

Damm Penn State! On this list numerous times...wtf! And Sandusky the mix and my favorite college looking CRAZY!
Laurence Marroney was drafted in 2006, played 4 seasons and was out of the NFL by 2006? Wut? Do you not watch your videos before you upload them? goddamn #FireFraction
Brad Lamb After saying he was part of the historic 2007 team 😂😂😂😂
What about Cadillac Williams lol
Facts
My mom use to date him n Florida SHE WAS MARRIED AT THE TIME NO CAP
why did you have pictures of Denzel Perryman when talking about Alonzo Highsmith
This is a robot talking right? Just one that has more vocal inflection than usual? It’s a robot.
top 8 reasons why the NBA west is better than the NBA east.
prntscr.com/f2gwj0 nah
Trent Richardson was such a beast though... wtf happened
NFL players are bigger, faster and hit harder or maybe a lack of focus after being traded after a very good rookie year.
Manuel Martinez he came out and basically said he got fat and didn't take care of himself
Disrespectful to Alonso Highsmith who had his knee blown out in his last game as a Cane and was just never able to really recover from that devastating injury.
What's with the picture of Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman at the beginning? Haha
I can't believe that Reggie BUST Bush isn't on this list.
xX_YaBoyMJ_Xx do you watch football? He wasn’t a bust? Plenty of others that faired far worse than him.
What are you smoking
xX_YaBoyMJ_Xx had over 10k all purpose yards, and was instrumental for a team that won the super bowl. He can be a bust in your head all you want but he had a solid, long NFL career
Nicole Clinkscales yeah but if you look at numbers Laurence Maroney was actually out performing him in his first 3 seasons. If his name wasnt Reggie Bush he probably would have been out of the league the same time Maroney was
Chris Tucker no way, he had a career resurgence in Miami. Maroney had slightly better stats because Bush split time his first 2-3 seasons with Deuce McAllister, a pro bowl player. You say he didn’t put up stats early on, I say he wasn’t given opportunities to be the lead dog. That’s just NO’s offense under Payton. They love multiple running backs (look at Ingram and Kamara now). Regardless of pedigree Reggie Bush was always gonna have a decent career because he had something most RBs don’t have. Versatility. He could do a bunch of things and do them well. Dude was the best receiving back in the league for awhile and was deadly returning kicks too.
this commentary is so boring
koul _24 YOUR BORING
koul _24 gtfo then
I nearly fell asleep by the time they got to one.
I'm not sure why they're using a simulated computer voice for this. Surely they could have found a human being, right?
Shut up watch videos without this guys voice in it if you don’t like it b/c there’s other videos that don’t have his commentary
the team with the best draft of the last 3 years please?
Emmitt Smith was in the same draft class with Blair Thomas .
every alabama running back that recently came out of college
zay 40 that is the dumbest thing said ever. Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry weren't bust.
Darren McFadden?
Garrett Pitts as a Raider fan, it was not McFadden that failed us it was our front office that failed him. He was literally 90% of the offense and got ran to the ground so very soon.
@@NickBauersfeld agreed and the Raiders did not seem to realize that a team should draft or sign good offensive lineman when they bring in strong skill players...poor Al was going downhill and his son does not seem to understand football.
How about Ron Dayne. Dayne was selected with the 11th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Rushed for 3,722 yards over 7 seasons.
top 10 sleeper teams in the nfl that could make a superbowl
I think the key lesson to learn here is, don't draft Penn State running backs.
Boyd Hopkins what about Larry Johnson and Franco Harris? They both turned out to be pretty good lol
I am the Cheese, Curt Warner as well. I agree about Enis and Thomas. But, Carter got injured and was never the same.
Do worst hyped up prospects ever to suck
Xavier Johnson so in other words a bust?
Reggie Bush
JaMarcus russell, Reggie was good in detroit
Would you consider Ryan Mathews, Andre Ellington, Ahmad Bradshaw, Yeldon (jags RB), Christine Michael, and Bishop Sankey Busts
You can probably make an entire top 10 list out of Cardinals draft busts. From Stegent to Steve Little...a kicker taken in the 1st round, to Clyde Duncan to Tom Knight to Matt Leinart to Jonathan Cooper. There are others but I think my point is made.
