I remember watching this on Grandstand on 17 December 1983 i.e. 29 years ago today. Bit of a motorsport double bill because the 1983 British Rallycross Grand Prix was also on. I remember the whole programme had regular Jan Leeming-presented news flashes about the Harrods bombing.

That A379 VUK that Mansell drives belongs to a guy who lives near me. Uses it for hillclimbing and single venue rallies. Drives it very well..

The Rover 3500 turned out to be too heavy for rallying
