  • In this video we say hello to the team behind International Nature Journaling Week. We introduce ourselves, say something we love about INJW and what we are looking forward to this year for INJW 2024, as we celebrate nature journaling as a global community.

Hello Fellow Nature Lovers. I am so excited that it is time for International Nature Journaling Week again! It is always a wonderful experience to get together and appreciate our world through art with no requirements for perfection. We are all unique and have something to share. This team is so inspiring ! I can't wait to participate.

Such a wonderful team, thank you All! I love this week because we learn about other plants, birds or animals in different parts of the world, but at the same time, there might be the same plant that we share across different countries and that also brings us together across the globe! And, even though we might not be able to understand different languages on other's journal pages, we can always connect through the universal language of sketching!

I've recently been told that a plant that is a weed in my area is one that has to be tenderly cared for in to make it grow in the northern hemisphere. I thought that was really interesting. Thanks for being here Karen.

Melinda was taking my thoughts into words. It is definitely not "everyone" who can join International Nature Journaling Week. You need to speak or at least understand the English language. You all come from English speaking countries and that is definitely not "everyone".

Thank you for your thoughts. If you look on the "How to Participate" page of the website you will see the information translated into 15 different languages. During the week we have videos that go out which are a compilation of shorter videos from people from around the world. These videos are often spoken in languages other than English with subtitles below. On the "What does nature journaling mean to you" page there are videos with people from many countries, speaking about nature journaling in their own languages. It is our hope that people will take the prompts and create their own events and nature journal pages in their own languages. We have made efforts to be inclusive with different languages where we can but I would really love to hear your thoughts about how we could be more inclusive. Please feel free to write here or send me an email bethan@journalingwithnature.com. Warm wishes from Australia! 🌻

Another way we try to be inclusive is to always have the prompt videos with Closed Captions so that they can be set to other languages via RUclips.
