They basterdized that car, used the BRE and just literally $hitted on the BRE rich history, one of of 1st American companies to dabble in JDM cars and be successful in and aesthetic and motorsport standpoint. They should've kept the BRE name out of it.

This is a great piece. Yes, I can see your viewpoint as a cash grab and value standpoint. It is always said that value is only seen by the eyes of the beholder. This is a great rendition that is a one off which adds more diversity with the BRE inspired look that adds the excitement into the collection for me so I welcome it gladly. I hope everyone finds joy in there purchases so they admire them for that spark that drives our passion for collecting diecast.
What gets me and is honestly more ridiculous than this release, is buying a RLC release that you don’t like. It’s taking it out of the hands of someone that may really like this release.
I love this casting I have NO idea what the hell you’re talking about. It seems like you purchased this car to complain. Your wife must be really proud of you. That’s what I like the most from this car is the color.
Well I like this release of it more than the gold one, I did get it and I'm happy with it. As far as RLC and repeat stuff goes, It seems like they have been doing that a lot lately. My kid hates that they keep repeating cars also, they don't care and all they have to do is slap some new paint on whatever car it is and put it up for sale. For instance the 454 should have only been done in black, my opinion of course because that's what they were. I seen so many people talking crap on the red one but yet it sold out relatively fast. I don't care for it very much but I ended up getting one anyway lol. I have picked up some in the past also that I thought was absolutely horrible, I'm glad I did because now they go for a nice chunk of change.
It's a nice rlc but I passed on it. This year for rlc I want the pink skyline, the nsx and the Integra. Skyline in hand so 2 to go.

Nothing is obligatory as a collector. You buy what you want. All rlc cars are cash grabs and they know it.

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion. Mine doesn’t correlate with yours. It’s unfortunate the power RUclips influencers have on the valuation of any item. People should collect what they like. Reality? No. They typically follow (like lemons) the likes or dislikes of those preaching the hotwheels bible. I have an original candy stripper and have noted the obscene valuation of this car. When I bought it those facts didn’t matter and they still don’t. My plans are to leave it to my grandson.

I guess so. Internet collectors drove up the price of the candy striper. It’s unfortunate, really. even if I wanted to sell it I’d have to really piss off some guys wife. Even after 45 years of marriage my wife would walk out if I spent $3,000.00 on a hot wheel car. I almost didn’t purchase it because it was pink. Mattel can paint a turd pink, put 4 wheels on it, and it would sell out in 5 minutes.
To each their own, i guess. I really liked this 240. Is it a cash grab, yeah most assuredly. But do i like it, HELL YES. It doesnt look like a race car at all, definitely more of a show car. But i dont mind it, its just a different style and i think its pretty well executed.

In my opinion it is a very lazy thing for mattel to just copy paste rlcs with different colours but this car has a certain charm I enjoy. Getting it with the Gold 240z soon 😁
It's funny that the 72 skyline RLC isn't worth more because it's the first release in premium and it's numbered. There has been other forms of this casting but none that say gtr. They read as h/t2000gt which is the race car version. I personally haven't found a good deal on this but when I do I am definitely going to jump on it. It's a undervalued casting for sure

@@DieCashCars it’s been holding up perfectly fine, I usually put it in a hoodie pocket or something, trying to avoid jeans. The taillights on my ek9 super rubbed off due to jeans

I really think you're over analyzing and reaching here. For one, this car received generally positive reviews. It was showcased a while back, and even with its non authentic deco and style, it still was favored. Hot Wheels isn't also known to stick with authentic deco. The gray and red scheme looks a lot better to me than the real life colors, gives it a slick look. This is only the 4th RLC version in 5 years, and that is comparatively average to the rate of current cars (2-3 releases in the first couple years, such as the Lamborghini for instance). Most new collectors don't realize that these castings see a few repeats before they cycle them out.

You ask me, it was the gold spectraflame that sucked. This black-and-chrome with red accents looks great compared to that. When it comes down to it, Mattel will keep releasing cheap corners-cutting JDMs as long as people want to buy JDMs. Some people want to buy JDMs because plenty of RUclips channels tell them that JDMs are worth....cash.
I passed on it. If it was blue and white, like the actual BRE team colors... I would have got it.
Assessment on point, kinda meh release despite my love for this casting, the actual vehicle & Nissans in general. Also, surprised you didn't bash those horrible red wing mirrors 😅 at least the color combo is sweet, would've been better just as a 2 tone smoke spectraflame and matte black paint job. I like the 240z. Going to get another one. If you’re into investing to buy for the long run then grab the RLC Datsun gulfs. All rlc Gulfs in the past have shown dramatic value increases.

I was kind of disappointed at this release. Those gauges (or mirrors) on the fenders look like crap that color. They look plastic to me, so I didn't pick it up. Can't really enjoy the lines on the car with that deco.

That’s why I passed on it. They made one in Gold back 2021 I believe. Even the Chevy 454 they just released. Another release just a different color. Boring!!
