I remember playing this first stage as a kid feeling sorry for X!…Lost his best friend and still has to continue to fight, this opening stage and music will forever be one of the best gaming experiences of my life
This song is much more epic when you go directly from X5 to X6. Makes me reminisce on the events of the prior game, and makes the whole ruined aspect of the first stage hit that much harder. Too bad the rest of the game sucked (aside from the rest of the soundtrack, that is).
the guitar riff is perfect for this song! i remember getting this after beating x5 i was just awestruck cause zero was pressumed dead and this music totally fitted the stage
Guitar= EPIC I was looking for this version everywhere on youtube. The other videos missed the guitar riff and it was just a dissapointment IMO. Thank you for putting this version up, I missed that guitar part Guitar= EPIC
Man, I gotta find this version of the song. By the way, X6 is freaking awesome. Some may say it's bad compared to others but it still pwns. Best music out of the entire X series. Favorite X game as well. (Yes I have played and beat all of the X games. I'm not here to argue, just stating an opinion)
Never have I raged while playing a game the way I did trying to get through this PoS. However, having a sweet intro stage song is an X-series staple and at least they got that right. Even if a bit depressing sounding. And man is this so much better with that guitar riff.
I love the guitar riff as much as anyone, but the intro with the drum roll and the horns, then slowly building up to the main loop? THAT is my favorite part of the song. It definitely sounds more awesome if you're watching a TAS, as we see Megaman rush through the first stage at lightning speed. He just wants this story to be over, and he's gonna give everything he's got to stop it.
This one track alone is better than the entirety of X6. Good god, I don't think I've seen such a stark contrast between the incompetency and anger-inducing design and story choices made by Capcom, and the utter majesty of its soundtrack. I'd daresay X6 has arguably the best soundtrack in the series, which really only makes the lazy design more depressing in hindsight.
crashandcortex I was thinking the exact same thing at work today. I had the X4, X5 and X6 soundtracks playing in my ear buds and found myself skipping most of X4 and some of X5. I don't think I skipped a single X6 track. It really is THAT good.
Nothing is comparable to the original and x4. The longer it takes to create a game, the better th music will be. With that said, that, this is amongst my top favorite song of the series.
The first Mega Man X game i ever played and also my favorite, even though it suffered from fake difficulty, it's on par with the first Mega Man Zero in terms of difficulty in my opinion
I don't get the shit X6 is getting from people. Remember X7? Permadeath for rescuable reploids? Check Horrible level design? Check Heck, even the controls were downright wonky. And don't get me started on the Glide Armor. I love how X has a saber in X6 from the beginning, tho. And the sick soundtrack. Hands down one of my favorites.
It was one of the endings of Megaman X5 (Yes, it had multiple endings), and apparently the one Capcom decided to use. In fact, in the series of still photos that make up the ending, you can see the ghost of Dr. Light gazing over the body of X, lying unconscious. It was then that he "equipped" X with the sword of the late Zero. (It's been a while since I saw that ending, so my memory is a little fuzzy.) You're right about him carrying the sword on his back, though, I'll give you that much.
@tanookinuri actually to get zero you just need to find the access to the backstage via a teleporter thing (its hidden somewhere but everystage has it). the thing looks like a blue veil of light. after entering the light and making your way to the boss encouter the purple zero and once you beat him you get the cutscene with zero and zero becomes available.
You replied to me and said "you", and the first part of the statement was at least somewhat relevant to if not completely a response to mine, so confusion was pretty much expected to occur~
Mega Man X6 was crazy hard, but it had a few of the best music tracks in the series. Blaze Heatnix, Blizzard Wolfang, Infinity Mijinion aka Final Countdown Mark 2 :-p, Commander Yammark, Gate stage theme, Gate fight theme, and Sigma Second Form fight theme, and of course this track, which is sheer thematic brilliance - I would count all of these in my top 20 and most of them in the top 10 of X themes.
@xayaxxo Note that this is a Rockman X soundtrack, not Megaman X. Unfortunately, they only sell this album in Japan. There's no Megaman X soundtrack album. So pretty much Megaman X soundtracks can be found in fansites, official websites, and on youtube.
@lightninstriker10 talking about this aspect, I found X6 easy in some sessions and bosses but really hard in other moments (the second Gate's stage or Heatnix's one for example), but in the end, in my opinion, this game has everything you should expect from a megaman game: great fun, great ost and a good difficulty level that ensures a stimulating gameplay
@BishounenNerd yeah the happy reunion in x6 just felt weird. x5's ending was sad but it felt complete and that made the ending great, then x6: what? zero you still alive? zero: yeah i was just repairing myself in hiding, sorry i made you worried... -_-
@Lordiori13 I have no idea why! It's just a trivia statement that I read when I looked up Mega Man Zero in the MMKB (Mega Man Knowledge Base) I'm just glad we'll never know if it is true, otherwise I'll never lay my hands on the Zero series ever!

Well, I think it's because his fans or maybe Capcom regrets killing him off each time they decide to. First it was Megaman X where they decided he should sacrifice himself to save X, but then in X2 you could collect his parts and bring him back. Then, in X3, he COULD die, but that wasn't the story Capcom decided to go with. Then, in X5, he was supposed to die yet again, but then Capcom pulls out the LAMEST excuse for why he didn't. "Oh, I was just hiding." Suuuuure...
I finally beat x6 19 years later, this game has an amazing soundtrack but the game. We all know the story, a lot of sweat blood and controllers went into finishing this game. Good luck to anybody who picks this up! Should have left it at x5
When did that stuff about the arm happened? I'm pretty sure it didn't, as there's no z-saber arm, Zero carries it in that thing on his back. In X6 X is just using the sword, just like anyone else could have, if they found it.
Zero doesn't actually know exactly how he was saved, he doesn't know who repaired him. He didn't repair himself, he just says that for some reason. a loop hole i guess. There's hints it could've been whats-his-name, the reploid that looks kind of like Dr.Wily. He seems to be obsessed with Zero anyway. Also, when talking to Dr. Light a couple of times, doesn't Dr.Light say to Zero "Your recovery was a miraculous one, though I don't know who repaired you" or something like that.
I keep coming back to X6 more than any other X game for a few reasons. Mostly, it's because the soundtrack kicks way more ass than it has any right to. But it's also because im masochistic and want to reexperience this lesson in how not to make a platformer ever again and again
