You are doing such a fantastic job of your restoration. What your videos don’t show is all the laborious work such as the planning, the measuring , then all the cleaning up afterward, and off course all the editing and posting of these videos by the lovely Simone. I just love watching the progress of rebuild.⛵️
Ricky is the master of geometric measure methods. Maybe some of his family has been an architect in the middle age. You gave me a lot of ideas how to find the right size of parts I build. Fair winds Tom
Thank you Ricky for giving credit to your wife for the editing. We are so captivated that we sometimes forget that these videos don't just make themselves. Great job and thanks again for bringing us with you!
I could sit in front of my computer all day with a bowl of pop-corn and a bottle of coke and watch the build of Lady Africa but alas the dam video's only go for 20 minutes . Oh well , there a good reason to make me keep coming back , great job guys , stay safe
Haha thanks so much Richard! We found 20 mins keeps everyone on their toes 😜 Keeps everyone young ha ha. Thanks so much for the kind comments each week. We appreciate it 😊
You guys are doing great. Great to see you are using a filtered mask cutting the fibreglass, I'd suggest give one to your helping mate as well as he is too close not to get inhaled the nasty stuff. Can't wait to see the final million dollar yacht!
Thank you 😊. Moses does have a mask.. Intact he's got two but chooses not to wear it and knows the circumstances in the long run... Unfortunately we can't force him to wear it if he chooses not to.
Amazing how you make these videos so fun to watch. Not much exciting about just a swim platform and yet couldn't stop watching. Sucks that you now have more work to do thanks to the squid boat. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas, maybe we could get another song from the amazing Simone? Please.
Thanks so much for that James. I try make it as entertaining as possible as boat building isn't always fun and entertaining. When I get time I'll sing again been crazy lately! Merry Christmas 🤶 🎄🎉
Good episode. How rare is it to get hit whilst on the hard by a boat in the water????? I Any thoughts to a couple of hand holds under the swim platform that might be useful when cleaning the hull or inspecting the prop when in the water?
Thanks Shaun. Well apparently not so rare.. It was high tide which made it worse. We haven't gotten to that stage yet. We might.. See what Ricky says 😜
More amazing work on the swim platform! More room and less weight. Doesn't get better than that. Is the other vessel going to pay for the repairs to your boat?
Hello again guys, I love everything you’re doing. Just wondering if you will continue with a single engine set up or....I don’t remember. Also, will the dinghy be strapped down on the swim platform during passage? Massive 👍👍👍
You will need to lift the leg when . Sailing can it still clear the water with duck board there, thoes boats don’t have a huge review in off shore sailing but bigger rudders , I mean built up to the hull giving greater steering surface will help , and also with an auto helm on passages , , how do you drain the duck board of water
Gess , if you expect me to respect you as a subscriber as i respect all our other subscribers i expect you to speak/type to us with respect .I do not appreciate you making use of the term mucking around . i am very familiar with these dean catamarans and yes they do have a long history of crossing many oceans around the world as they are found all over the globe. if you would like to make a suggestion about something im open to listen but dont tell us what we should do , its just common courtesy
Hi I am not knocking your ability at all don't get me wrong .I have watched all your vids with interest and enjoyed all the progress and can't wait to see you in the water . As a marine designer . And marine engineer some times we see good modifications that can work and help and think the rudder could be larger . Better down wind steering and Marina manuvering controll what you think
@@kz4506 Hi Gess , thanks for clarifying i think it might have just been word selection, yes i do agree with you ! i think that the rudders should have been bigger . they are currently made from stainless steel not my favorite choice of material but im definitely considering changing them at a later stage. for now i think ill attempt to extend them vertically . Happy holidays
@@livingwiththemaias good idea you Will notice the difference straight a way I had a look at the rocker form of the hulls . And think an extra 100 kg of leed on the heels and your mast can go forward 1.3 Mtrs to a fractional rig and the boat Will fly . Have a think keep going want to see that boat, in the water this year
Another nice video, I to was wondering about weight and how she will ride in water, maybe a swing up on center for access for service, or maybe to allow water to drain thru in heavy seas, like i said before a million questions. By the way did you get dinner for the damage they caused or maybe some paint lol ?
Thanks so much! Most Dean Cats have fixed swim platforms. This works just fine for them. We have done research like always before installing or building anything. Still waiting for them.. they said they would come repair it for us... but not seen them yet.

OUCH! Damned RUDE, there, hitting your boat. Yes, Navy Ships ARE The Shit.. It takes a few weeks Aboard to learn your way To and From your Work Spaces, Mess Deck, etc..
Well it all depends how you want to build the dodger. If you want it curved.. Coosa board comes in rigid straight panels. If you are looking at building a flat one Coosa is fantastic, very structural and relatively light weight. Alternative is pvc high density lycell or mycell foam. I would not recommend Nidacore unless you make panels!
Love the AEG 125 grinder, I recon I could get work as a dentist with mine. That Nida-core is this right? www.marine.com/store/c/796-NidaCore.html At some point could you explain why you are using it? Best boat there was that tractor tug have a good one ...
That's the one! 👍🏻 We used Nidacore because its possibly the most structural core material we could get our hands on in South Africa. Also allows us to build a relatively light weight panel. Also doesn't really allow for water damage compared to pvc core foams etc😁
