Thanks for watching! I have a review of the Bober backpack I am using in this video on the way. 25L assault backpack with carrying system based on my larger Raid backpack I have been using the past few months. Check it out here: russiancoldcamo.com/collections/day-packs-1/products/russian-army-bober-backpack-25l-emr
When I was 18 my graduation present was a shopping spree at an army surplus store in Portland Oregon followed by a 3 day backpacking trip into the Cascade wilderness. It rained all 3 days and was the best time of my life living under a tarp and eating boiled beans and jerky. Cheers!
Thanks Opal! I was pretty surprised how much sleep I got in the midst of all that. It was coming in sideways for a bit. Good ole poncho draped over me and my gear. Have a good one.
Nice to see a bush crafter actually carrying a rifle like a true woodsman! I never have and never will go into the woods without a rifle and these days usually a sidearm as well.
Thanks brother. It was a good night out. Little surprised at the weather, but had an extra poncho with me and was up off the ground on the bunk, so it all worked out.
Wife seeing this: that poor man, he must be miserable! Me: That lucky guy LOL. Good trip, crap like that happens to me all the time, can't trust any weather prediction. A 25 liter pack is really tiny, book bag size, you obviously have the gear choice dialed in right. Great video.
Hello from the UK, what amazing video just love it , can't wait to see your next video, this is my very first time watching your videos , thank you for sharing
What a beautiful storm! The only way to test your gear and setup is to let nature hit you with a random check. Looks like you were carrying the appropriate kit in your pack, and knowledge in your head Jess. It may not have been the trip you planned, but it still looked awesome!
thank you, Sean! It was a good night out all in all. I had an extra poncho with me that I have been using as a ground sheet. When the rain hit, I pulled everything up on the bunk and covered with the poncho.
Figured it was a small bolt action. Probably just enough for the black bears that frequent your area. Stay safe my friend. Enjoyed it very much.@@EnduranceRoom
Such a good video, where do I start. Simple little shelter. The rain would have put my old cold for sure. Bear footin it in the morning. You beast lol. Thanks for sharing. As always be well my friend.
Thank you, my friend! I have been having a good time working on my filming and editing. I lucked out having the raised bed setup. There was a river under me lol. Have a great day, James!
The rain is the EXACT reason for liking this tarp. The 3-4" overlap on the tie outs keeps the rain off you. With less space. Just love the tarp. Ratnik or what ever you call it, it is the best design I have seen on the market. I want one. And will get one. As I can afford one. Then again if they are is stock?
Wow. First that Gear is, and always is Awesome. But there is something Grounding? Soul Searching/ Mind Healing about what you just did. Alone, Staring at the fire, Lying under a Shelter in the Rain with the Thunder and Lightning as an added bonus. Man I miss being able to connect like that. I know without a doubt I was more "Even Keeled " if that is the Correct Term. Preciate what you do Brother.
Thank you much, James! It is a real blessing being out in nature. Grounding and healing for sure. That storm was pretty surreal. Thanks for the support, my friend.
James, I am in total agreement with you on the grounding, soul searching and healing. Jess is an awesome Dude. I feel like I'm there with him. Wishing I was anyway.
Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video! I just found your channel. I subscribed, great content! Love the fact You carry a weapon. I always carry a shotgun or rifle myself. U never know. Thanks for all You do! God Bless!
Yeah brother, I hear you. Thats why I have been eating and moving on before setting up. Neighbors got a very large cat on their trail camera that isn’t supposed to be here. Mtn Lion. Right across the creek. Bunch of bears too.
@@EnduranceRoom yeah I noticed the change with the hike in and put it together. I'd be more worried about that KITTY than the Bears. Cat is like a Ninja .
@@EnduranceRoom I saw several around here in the early 70's, but haven't seen one in year's. That doesn't mean that there aren't any. They are the Ghost of the Forest.
Great video...yes I agree..it was good to be off the ground...when possible you should always be raised ..or good drainage around shelter...super raised bed...Love your equipment and your food raised to keep the BEAR 🐻 away...your forest looks in the Carolinas... what weapon was you carrying...???
Not at all duuuuuuude... Thank YOU for doing the video... much a lot better to see after working than any other TV news... specially if you are a dog walker like me, and you are back from walking a ride of 15 km. with a pack of 8 dogs. Martin from Argentina by the way. Cheers duuuUUUuuude... 😅😂🤣
Yeah brother. Been a few times now. This trip, something was hanging out in the trees about 100 yards in front of my shelter. Let me know it was there as I was turning in for the night. I shut my phone off and it snapped 3 sticks. It knew I shut it off. It was still there a couple hours later, as the storm was getting started. Moved behind so it was out of view in the lightning.

Always great Jess! I really appreciate and enjoy all your videos, thank you for bringing us along. I was wondering how much your pack weight was on this trip with the 25L pack?
Thanks! It is my food bag/cooking utensils. There are bears and some other predators roaming around here. Thats also why I cooked my food and then moved before setting up camp.
What a corker of a trip out 😉👍🏼 Loved the set up. Going to give that a run out over here in 🇬🇧 Good food too. Made me peckish and go raid the fridge. The joys of modern living 🙄😁 Thanks for sharing your trip out!

I like the way you show real skills, using solid methods, with minimal kit and surplus gear. Great videos! Keep them coming!
