Welcome back to another episode of ZillowGoneWild! In today’s episode we will be exploring “The One” - the most expensive modern house ever built in the United States. With over $100 million spent on development, “The One” mega mansion in Los Angeles, California feels like it’s floating above the city and is truly an extravagant house to look at. In total the 100,000 square foot mega mansion has 21 bedrooms, 42 bathrooms, a10,000-bottle wine cellar, a 50-car garage, a private movie theatre, a four-lane bowling alley, VIP nightclub, five swimming pools, and so much more.
“The One” was originally planned to sell for a world record $500 million dollars. However, with several construction delays, and higher than expected costs, Nile Niami the original developer was forced to put the house into bankruptcy auction. Through the top bid, “The One” sold at auction for $126 million dollars to Fashion Nova’s billionaire CEO, Richard Saghian. Now let’s begin our tour inside “The One”!
Walking inside “The One”, you will immediately notice a spacious foyer that feels like you’re walking into an art gallery with a 360 white sculpture and views of the backyard skyline. Just next door is the office space with a modern design. This office is surrounded by water on the outside and even has an indoor balcony overhanging the top of it. If you’re a car collector, you will like this next section of the house. “The One” has a gigantic 50 car garage that is even bigger than most car showrooms. On the floor of the garage there’s a clean label that says, “The One Bel Air”.

One of the most important things to consider as a buyer when purchasing real estate in Los Angeles is property taxes. In Los Angeles County, the property tax rate is about 1.25% of the purchase price. I would rather invest in stocks and ETFs. Use a portion of your monthly dividend to rent something luxurious in the most beautiful place in the world; you'll have much more flexibility. In the long term, your dividends will continue to grow.
