I still remember being a kid and seeing TIHYDP Arkham City and being baffled that a guy like 20 years older than me was infinitely worse at a game I had beat when I was 12. Detractor channels are the whole reason this guy has enjoyed what can loosely be called a career.

Phil has been a content creator for 16 years and knows nothing about SEO, can’t set up streaming equipment, can’t set up non-plug and play video games, can’t edit videos, can’t make thumbnails, has no industry contacts to talk to about ideas, has no industry contacts in the field he covers, has no community pages, nothing.

Nah. At best he knows when he needs to act like he gets things. But it's sort of just a white-flag when things get bad and he takes lots of crap. A good example is how he gaslit for a couple days after Scorn, but when MoistCritikal called him out, all of a sudden he was singing the complete opposite tune. You just don't swing so drastically like that. It's important to remember those instances during periods like the last few days and he starts going wild like he's been.
Self awareness requires you to be around people that are not just there to stroke you off.

Take the "You" in "RUclips" and you have the real reason for all your woes, Phil.
It’s very simple. If your watch time is high, RUclips will push your videos. Watch time is the #1 metric. You need interesting content to get people to keep watching and increasing that watch time which makes RUclips push it out to more people. “Here, other people watch this video, so you should watch it, too.” That’s basically it. And it’s why RUclipsrs jump on trending topics.
DSP’s videos are Let’s Plays which is probably the most flooded genre on the internet. Even e-thots play video games. And DSP isn’t playing games at some professional level. He’s bumbling around “average Joe style” (despite playing considerably worse than the average gamer). So his competition in his niche is literally everybody that plays video games on stream.
And his watch time on his channel is terrible. Privating his streams makes his watch time null and void. So the uploaded videos start at 0 for that metric and most people click around and then dip out. He said once that his average watch time was 5 minutes. His videos are 1 hour long. That’s a terrible ratio. So the algorithm is going to push literally any other Let’s Play videos with better watch time, which is probably thousands of videos of the same game DSP plays. And it’s probably worse if it’s an older video of an older game like Fallout 4 because that’ll have 10 years of metrics baked into it.
Apparently he never read any of the Twitter files that were released that showed Twitter staff offering verification for thousands of dollars.
Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. One and a half decades of dealing with stochastic algorithms and content promotion is more than enough time and experience to develop proficiency.
