Who are nominee directors and do you need them?
Nominee director/shareholder is a person appointed to take your place as a company director, whether your goal is to maintain your privacy or reduce your taxes.
The reality is, a lot of problems can occur - from operational ones, as nominee directors are the ones with the formal power in decision making, to issues from a tax or banking perspective, if the authorities happen to suspect in the ownership structure of the company.
So, even though there are some cases when nominee directors are a reasonable option, it would be better to avoid them in order to go offshore legally, without further issues.

Nominee directors are a disaster! One client does something illegal implicating the nominee and the nominee and all of their clients can be subject to investigation.

What if the UBO needs his company to become tax resident in order to benefit from the country's lower taxation and the local laws require the majority of the shareholders to be this country's citizens? Are there any alternatives?

How would you look at local ownership laws? (where local governments require a citizen to be a majority owner of the company) Especially for companies such as real estate holding companies in countries like Thailand where a citizen is required to be a 51% owner?
