  • This Dyna SC12XP firewood processor was my announcement to the world that I going full time as a firewood business. Starting off with a Poulan and a pickup this was an unimaginable purchase for me at the time. My production really took off with the Dyna but with all the restaurants I was servicing I noticed I spent way too much time resplitting.
    This Dyna had an affordable price and was able to lift the logs off the ground. I saved a ton on shipping by driving 4 hours to WVA to pull it home. I made a lot of firewood with this machine but also figured out quickly that it lacked the speed and the ability to make smaller, restaurant grade firewood. I get attached to my equipment and it was a difficult decision to sell but it has all turned out great for everyone. Its new owners LOVE the Dyna and I have hit a homerun with my Japa 365 Pro.

    That was an impressive amount of wood those guys had. Very neat and tidy as well

      They are VERY good at firewood. They use their kinetic splitter and their splits tend to be smaller which works great for me. Thanks Hometown for watching! Joe

      I had a tree service for about 30 years around Tulsa. We had a bad bug for a long time on elm trees and there was nothing u could do except remove it. Yes there was some crooks that will tell u I can save it and charge 3 or 4 hundred bucks and (deep root fertilizer) but one guy all he used was powder milk and poke his pipe in the ground and pump(homemade) his milk in the ground. They wold ask after he was through what is the chance and he would say 50 50 duu. But anyway u couldn’t give the wood away and we don’t have the log trucks around here

    Definitely different than the softwoods we got west in Washington State. I like the down home videos.
    I only cut wood for heating my house but the pickiroon has been helping my back out this year.

    Thanks for the video. It’s great to see how others do it and make money. It just proves that there are dollars to be made at each level of production and that it’s ok to by and resell. Time has a worth and we only have so much of it. Make a buck on a resell or make 2 bucks doing all yourself.

    • @ohiowoodburner

      I think the big difference is I only sell firewood. I am not a tree service etc. If I have no wood to sell I will go hungry! There are three things I do for inventory. 1. I produce my own from logs purchased from loggers 2) I have agreements with other producers to make firewood for me. and 3) I buy firewood already made off random people. This is where owning a Super Splitter pays off lol. Joe

    After seeing and talking with the Dyna people at Paul Bunyan it doesn't seem that you bought the wrong machine but, rather that you ordered a machine without knowing what you needed. Almost every problem that you mentioned is an option. They were the only ones that we talked to that were willing to change anything and everything to build exactly what we want and need.

    • @ohiowoodburner
      @ohiowoodburner  3 года назад

      I think that is fair but also I can't fault myself for that. It was my first purchase and quickly realized I needed to be in a different arena. Still the lack of an adjustable knife is the big deal to me. I wouldn't now purchase any machine without one. splitter, etc. Dyna is a great machine for sure. Well built and will last for ever.

      @ohiowoodburner  3 года назад

      Thanks Matt. This was my original processor I sold to a family up north. This is the SC12XP. Smaller than TWG's SC14. The smaller ones have a log lift. The bigger Dynas have the live decks. Joe

  • @NotSureJoeBauers
    @NotSureJoeBauers 4 года назад +3

    That's the trouble with a lot of processors. Mine goes up to 22" but with a 4 way you have to resplit anything over 12", still very fast production though

    • @ohiowoodburner
      @ohiowoodburner  4 года назад +1

      That's what I learned with this Dyna. I could make a ton more firewood with it vs my saws and splitters...and I wasn't exhausted as much at the end of the day...but in order to get the type of firewood I can sell for the biggest profit margin I had to resplit until darkness. It got old fast...and knowing that an easy solution existed in the Japa was just a few $$ away it was an easy decision. Thanks NS! Joe

      @@ohiowoodburner Its like there are a few routes you can take in the wood game. Volume or high grade. I started with volume because it was a good time for volume in our logging industry, its been on hard times for 2 years now and I have been going high grade since I first sniffed trouble. Really enjoying watching your channel seeing just how you really get those Brian Madden dollars for wood

    • @ohiowoodburner
      @ohiowoodburner  4 года назад +1

      @@NotSureJoeBauers I have a relationship with Brian but have never met him in person. When I first started kicking this idea around I did my research and found Brian. I told him that I felt like the man who thought he invented the automobile only to find Henry Ford did it four years earlier. Honestly though, I think there is nothing stopping a producer from selling both volume and hi grade. It's just like Fords and Lincolns. Make both and go after both markets! Joe

    Just found this old vid, and worth watching. Seems I know the japa inside and out from your vids buts this helped me compare it to one of these dyna processors. Now I see why it wasn’t the right machine for your. Weird it uses hydraulic fluid for the bar. That can’t be good for the environment

  • @Adirondack_DFL
    @Adirondack_DFL 4 года назад +2

    I've dealt with a few Amish families in Northern NY. Safety at their sawmills can be scary. I'm surprised they left the rubber tires on that Dyna unit. Using the hydraulic oil for bar oil is a bad design, your JAPA is better with a bar oil oiler.

    • @ohiowoodburner
      @ohiowoodburner  4 года назад +1

      I have a very good relationship with the Amish suppliers. They are very good people, honest, trusting. One family their daughters load my trailer, bare feet and no gloves. They are very hard workers. The Dyna oiler worked well. I guess you could argue that 46 lacks the tackifiers that B & C oil has but they sell a lot of machines! Joe
