I am aware I could have done a much better job here and I agree! This is not my peak or my best performance. Shadow is incredibly monotone for such an emotional context. idw has limits on what they can do with the characters. If they want shadow to act like that then thats what idw has to do. They dont own the sonic charcaters.

Imagine if this happened BECAUSE of the "Cowards run, I win" mentality. Not only was Rouge turned, but it was because of Shadow's arrogance that it happened.
@@inkchariot6147 Ian's a jerk, though. He can't even do a what if scenario to answer a fan's question, he just points to the mandates. He's not exactly the most trustworthy of people, y'know. This could be his call he's making, and he's just pointing fingers at SEGA cause it's convenient. Not saying that's what he's doing, but just because he says "SEGA did it" on an interview doesn't meant I'm gonna blindly believe it. People lie.
Why couldn't we get this dramatic moment in the IDW comics?! It would have been a lot more impactful to the Zombot story arc if Shadow or Rouge made a self scarifical moment like this to ensure the heroes lived another day. They are both beloved, complex characters and if this happened instead, the story's stakes would have been off the charts. Instead, Shadow had to be a complete idiot and get infected due to dumb overconfidence that somehow he was immune. At least Rouge left the story line with her dignity and played a huge role in the plot reguardless.
Seeing the acting in this comic... I couldn't help myself... But laugh. Honestly, it was hilarious seeing Shadow with his extremely distressed, panicked face, and then the way he's talking sounds like a calm conversation. Whoever the actor for shadow was... he should have... y'know... *acted.*

Adrenaline Dubs (IDW dub group here on RUclips) has me as her pretty consistently, they're a great team and well worth checking out if you wanna hear a bunch of great VAs. Same with my friend Steve at HyperVoiceActing, some of the ladies he works with are mega talented and great to learn from. I think that's a solid strategy, the best way to improve in any craft is to learn, and in this case, lots of listening is really useful! I love the line about the Chaos Insulators. What would stop Shadow from teleporting in-and out of there? The only thing I can critique on is Shadow threatening Omega.
you see, i just think that shadow voice lines here needed more...emotion. you can clearly see he's desperate and shouting, but he sounds "calm". not that i could do better, im no voice actor lol
This probably would have had the same effect as the choosing not to take Sonic’s advice about running, but with the added (benefit?/bonus?) of the emotional trauma of potentially letting one of his friends (comrades?) potentially face a fate worse than death, because of his arrogance and drive him closer to the old shadow.
Why dude sure rouge maybe is a thief but she doesn’t deserve that she can also be a good guy to I mean she knows a little bit about friendship because she helped shadow and omega or something like that but still she doesn’t deserve that.
Shadow voice actor sounds good but he really needs to work on the acting portion. Moments that are highly expressive and dramatic need to have actors that are prioritizing emotion over anything else. I really suggest that you give it another go-- you're almost there!
@@FlascencoCipher I think it’d be a great idea! Nothing builds confidence more than revisiting old work and seeing the change. Like I said, you’ve got the hard part figured out, you just need to get emphasis! If you’ve having trouble with volume when you’re doing a character, focus on nailing the voice quirk at the start and end of a phrase rather than each word. Check out some emotional scenes in cartoons that have felt “real” to you, they focus on the power of the line and sometimes break their usual pitch but that lack of control can sell a performance.
Reminder that comic Shadow's plan was to run up and punch the zombies that infect you by touching them & then proceeded to not run fast enough to shake it off like Sonic

I like whoever voiced shadow cause they do a great attempt to where this voice sounds like shadow and not the actor acting as them if that makes sense. But I feel there wasn't enough volume? on the last page where its seems like shadow is sounding a lot louder as the text seems to make the reader think how it would sound. I really....really hope what I said doesn't confuse anyone. Still overall voice work was great from everyone.

This is something along the lines of what should’ve happened during the metal virus saga.
The things behind Rouge even looked like zombots. I couldn't tell exactly what they were (Shadow androids maybe?) But they did look like zombots.

This is still better portrayed character of Shadow then the IDW series did.
The only issue I have with this is the fact shadow didn’t really express much emotion but other than that this was good.
