  • As of today 8th July 2023 the New Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2 =, the first Thread over Matter version will not connect to Google Home Nest Hub Gen 2, after sever hours of trying on several Android devices & an iPhone i still cannot connect. If you are just on the Google Eco System i would not Purchase this Aqara P2 until Google fix this issue.
I Will update here in the comments if or when this gets fixed.
** Seems like some users can connect the Aqara P2 to their Nest Hub 2nd Gen, so maybe a Google Issue with some devices? still not good enough though.

Had exactly the same issue. Resolved it by removing Google Hub (Gen 2) from my google Home, then resetting my Google Hub (Gen 2) to factory settings, then readding it to my Home and reconnecting it to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, then resetting the Aqara sensor to factory settings (10 fast presses of the button on the sensor) and then adding it to Google Home (ensure that the device used to do this is on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi). It worked!

Same thing for me. I've lost the past 2 days on this issue. I've activated IPv6. Deleted everyting (google home, clear cache, etc). Also reset Wi-Fi router many times. Reboor my Andoid phone. I proceed with all the installation process and get the same error message at the end of the process. Neither Google or Aqara are able to provide support on this issue. Very frustrating. I shall simply return the Google Nest Hub Max and the 6 Aqara Windows and door sensors P2. Grrr...

I was thinking of using Aqara products for my home security (alarms, sensors, hubs, etc.). Do any other of their products have issues with the Google Nest 2nd Gen?? The only devices that are not Apply in my home are 2 large TVs.

I'm having the same issue, even on iOS Thread and matter ecosystem. I have the latest Apple TV 2023 + the HomePod on the latest hardware. I still can't connect.

add device, and scan qr code for matter or enter numbers manually.

The P2's **have** to be on the same 2.4Ghz network as the phone/tablet used for install. Google WiFi and Android 14 do not give the user enough granular control with this. I ditched Google WiFi and changed to Google Fiber's WiFi 6 router which is still quite limited on granular control, but at least it lets you rename 5Ghz WiFi SSID! With that network change I was able to install the P2s. The trouble I'm having now is that my Matter border router (Google Nest Hub gen2) can't seem to reach a P2 in a location that Nest Guard had no trouble reaching a Nest Detect.

the Aqara Home support for the Door and Window Sensor P2 will only be available after the launch of the Hub M3 in early 2024 ,spring. But its working good with Apple Homekit now.

I was able to connect it to the Apple HomeKit and it is working well. But it didn’t link to Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Hope they fix the problem

I have added it to my google home, the hub max picked it up just fine. The only thing I cant figure out is how to get notifications through the home app or google assistant when the door is opened.

I was able to do it using the scrip function in the web site version of Google home

The v2 pucks do not have the matter update, only the max hub or hub can work as a matter thread device. If you had one of those, it would have connected fine.
Speakers: Google Home, Google Home Mini, Nest Mini, Nest Audio
Displays: Nest Hub (1st gen), Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max
    Wi-Fi routers: Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E)

Yes seems like if you have the apple Homepod there is no issue, is seems to be a Google Home issue think some Nest Hub Gen 2's & Nes Max are not letting some of us join, but other Nest Gen 2 & Nest Max users are successful added the Matter devices? Seems like a Google Issue that they are not replying to!

      @@hometechUK oh ok I see
I just Installed it and everything went fine
I had to reset though when I did the installation on home kit
Then I added to google home work no problem
Copying and pasted the code on pairing mode
It is working fast, I even added a automation already.
Yes the issue of someone doesn’t have a Allie home mini needs to be resolved
      Best of luck …

Have you enabled ipv6 in your router?

Hi, my Vodafone UK router does not have ipv6 options. Is that why Google home won't accept the device? Although I can connect to Alexa Echo 4th gen successful? But then when I try to pair with Google Home that also fails?

Aqara confirmed me that IPv6 is not required. It should work as is. Sadly, I'm on this issue for the last 2 months and no solution from Aqara nor Google...
