    Sigurd is clearly the greatest Fire Emblem player, he doesn't even get a game over when his entire army is wiped out!

    I like that robin art, it's her valentine attire
    there's things... that I disagree
    caeda is like "I'm going to recruit everyone, either by talking or by wooing them" (that's her shtick)
    celica might be a pacifist, but she will take more risk than anything
    marth is probably the person who will use the starting like... 5 units throught the game, investing in them, because those are his friends, and he's a friends people
    lyn should have won against micaiah, lyn definitelly goes with the flow of the game and is able to improvise if something nexpected happens to turn it into a positive

      Ayy appreciate you sharing your thoughts! A lot of great ideas!
      Caeda - agreed! Definitely wish I thought of this at the time, but I'd still put her above Katarina, and have her lose to Rhea. The desire to recruit all characters possible would be a positive imo, and it also doesn't necessarily mean she's against killing non-recruitable enemies. Iirc, she also takes initiative in the beginning of SD, by flying alone to ask for help. Imo this shows that she's willing to take initiative to make an active decision to increase her odds of winning, rather than rely on enemies being weak. The comparison to Rhea really comes down to Rhea's experience not just with strategy, but also with being in charge.
      Celica - not as familiar with Echoes, so I may have presumed some stuff incorrectly - but I assumed the decisions she made were to achieve some kind of objective. When it comes down to killing all enemies to farm their EXP, I'm not sure that Celica would view that as a "necessary" risk, and instead focus on doing ONLY what she needs to fulfill the objective. She'll take risks to reach the objective, but farming kills often isn't required for the immediate objective.
      Marth - that's a great analysis! In that case, it kind of depends on who he really chooses at the beginning. Based on his Forging Bond conversations in Heroes, he always seemed easy to work with for everyone, so I get the sense that even if he's FORCED to use someone outside of that friend group, he'd be flexible enough to adapt. But based on that perspective, I can see why you'd put Celica over Marth, as that kind of description suggests Celica's more flexible with strategy. Perhaps Engage is also making me a bit biased, since Marth has a bigger role just because of "main character reasons" but he's also the one who suggests to Alear to retreat, before reaching corrupted Veyle, which shows me that he's able to analyze armies to an extent that will allow him to determine whether or not the fight is one he can beat. That, I feel like, is an important skill for Fire Emblem (do I need to continue training these allies/give them statboosters before I tackle this chapter?)
      Lyn - interesting take on Lyn! I had a bit of trouble ranking Lyn, because she relies pretty heavily on Mark to make strategic decisions - it always made me feel like she's less pro-active in strategy than someone like Micaiah, who is essentially the main person in charge of taking care of the entire Dawn Brigade's survival. Micaiah managed to survive years of poverty and no resources, losing her first battle only to the Greil Mercenaries (strategist being Soren in that case), the same band of mercenaries who stopped a dictatorship led by a crazy brute on a dragon. And even there, she survives with her ENTIRE ARMY. I agree that Lyn would be better at benefiting from good positions, but I think Micaiah would be better at avoiding deaths and game overs.

    From what I've heard about Leif, that guy would know every glitch and exploit and cheese in the book. Warp skipping levels, freeze/silencing people and jumping them, underflow glitches and heal tile exp farming on bosses. He's had to go through so many surprise ambushes and take so many advantages I feel like hes one of the most likely to come out on top. Even in engage his entire build is type advantage, type advantage, type advantage. Dude lives and dies by rock paper scissors, and also overkill too. He'd bring a gun to the sword fight if there was even a single gun in the game

      Leif had to deal with the most bullshit odds stacked against him on a constant basis during most of his game.
      -Zero money at the start.
      -Only source of income and weapons are from stealing and subduing enemy forces.
      -Being forced to part ways with longlife companions and the established "Jagens" earlier on and having to make do with people he just met while he escaped prison on a race agaisnt the clock as he's on dwindling weapon resouces as there's almost no chance to replenish it (too many sword users for no sword to mug)
      -Having to be mindful of the army's stamina(fadigue system)
      -A load more of pitch black fog of war maps
      -SO MANY SIEGE WEAPONS (Ballistas, ballistas everywhere)
      -Overwhelming reinforcements
      -STATUS EFFECTS EVERYWHERE
      Leif was required to be pragmatic and cunning about his strategies to go as far as he did otherwise he would have been dead on a ditch the moment his guardians(Jagens) were out of the picture.
      Even if Leif failed more than any other Lord and was forced to be on the run and play defensive for most of his tale this just shows that he had the grit to deal with the worst outcomes.(Or develop one on the sink or swim scenarios he had to go through)

    • @TheHealthyTurtleFE
      @TheHealthyTurtleFE  5 месяцев назад +2

      Appreciate the kind comment, thank you! As for Timerra, it's mostly based on her story cutscenes! I got the sense she (and Fogado too) were always a few steps ahead of all the other player characters, since they were the only ones prepared to meet the Divine Dragon, because of the systems they had in place. Because of that, I'd feel like she'd be good at predicting potential challenges she'd face when playing Fire Emblem! She's a great leader and surprisingly easy to work with, given that she's been isolating from the other countries! I could also be a bit biased, because I really Timerra!
      That said, I'm also not too familiar with Leif. Do you think he wins over her in their matchup?

  • @Chopshoebop
    @Chopshoebop 5 месяцев назад +4

    Joke Answer: Byleth/Sothis. They could turn rewind in game, then Divine Pulse to rewind and get their rewind back.
    Real Answer: Robin actually has a support chain with Virion where she plays a tabletop war simulator with him. She cant beat him (until she has 1:3 winrate in the A support), because Virion doesnt care about units dying. But as far as I know, she has the closest experience to FE gameplay then anybody else here.
    And lets be honest, you dont have to be willing to sacrifice units to be good at Fire Emblem, you just have to be able to roll with the punches if it happens. Which every FE protag can do by definition.
    Also, Virion forces Robin to play with Ironman rules in their games. No rewinds either.

    • @TheHealthyTurtleFE
      @TheHealthyTurtleFE  5 месяцев назад

      LOL I can't say divine pulsing IRL was a strategy I had considered, truly innovative
      I love that support! One of the most memorable ones from Awakening - I remember being so confused as to how Robin could lose in chess during the B support, only to be so satisfied with the reasoning from the A support. And it's with Virion, of all people. Totally agree with you on the reasoning and Robin pick 🙌

    Even though Ike isn't on this he wouldn't clear the first round unless he had Soren helping him lmao. Tactically I think he's the least impressive lord.
    Edit: As to who should've been on here and might've been the top lord (or at least in contention with robin) I'd say Ephraim. That dude has better feats than Claude imo.

    • @TheHealthyTurtleFE
      @TheHealthyTurtleFE  5 месяцев назад

      Agreed, Ike's on the lower tier compared to the rest of the cast. Everyone else is just so impressive! Though RD Endgame Ike is pretty good, when he's finally become very self-assured. I'd say Ike only beats Elincia, Ninian, the secondary characters and maybe Corrin and Eirika.
      It's been years since I've played Sacred Stones, so I only remembered how strategic Ephraim really was from the comments! You're right, he's surprisingly capable, being that he's pretty young and also so athletic (I feel like it's rare that a character's both athletic and good at strategy)

    I will not accept this edelgard slander! Her whole ideology is that everyone has value, regardless of whatever blessings they have. As someone attempted a revolution to get rid of inherent classism, you saying that she’s only care about stats is the opposite of what she stands for. I’m not biased, you’re biased!
    Unironically though, I do think she deserved a bit more credit. I don’t think she’d win by any means, but she definitely should have made it to round 2.

    • @TheHealthyTurtleFE
      @TheHealthyTurtleFE  5 месяцев назад

      Hahaha, love to see the support for Edelgard. Really cool perspective of looking at her, because crests are the things they're born with, which is, in a way like base stats. I agree I didn't give her enough praise, because her strategy is really sound, and she literally creates the tide of war in Fodlan - whether people criticize her for that or not, it really shows how much control she can influence over the entire continent: she IS the only one truly capable of standing up against Rhea and that's gotta stand for SOMETHING.
      Definitely think I was the most unsure about Edelgard's matchup with Leif. It was also a really unlucky matchup. For example, I'd probably have her beat Veronica on the other side, and V made it super far
