Can confirm genealogy is way too story intensive to play in class, not that I've found any ways of trying that before or anything. It's a GREAT option for commuting though. I did in fact love playing Birthright in class when it came out.

Fe9 is the best for school, finish player phase before class, and after class, enemy phase will be almost done

Close friend of mine gave me a flash drive with all GBA Fire Emblem in high school which is how I got into the series. I played them in every spare moment at school, so I can say this list tracks.

The best place to play Shadow Dragon is nowhere, because no one should ever play Shadow Dragon 😂

Also, Genealogy is good because the turns take so long that you can just do your work in the middle

As a graduate, these games are perfect after work bc I don’t have much time to sit through long cutscenes or difficult chapters where I die a lot. Good list and video!

In my experience the definitive top 2 are the snes and ds titles as their light on dialogue and both have the least anime artstyles among the series so I feel less embarrassed if someone is watching me. The Gba titles also get an honourable mention. I play all the pre switch titles on the 3ds anyway.

As someone who always plays something during breaks at school, I can say that Shadow Dragon is the best. Lack of support conversations and little dialogue between chapters mean that you're getting the most gameplay out of your time. And, if you happen to play during class, you might be more careless, resulting in units' deaths, but that's ok since half of them you don't care about (this trait extends to New Mystery as well).

Can attest that PoR can be emulated on a laptop and played decently well in a stupid mandatory class😅. But Radiant Dawn chugs my laptop so bad but it might be cause the file I got for it just sucks

GBA FE games not higher is a crime. Shadow Dragon and New Mystery Remake were also super perfect for class when emulated.

Lots of great ideas you all are coming up with! GBAs are more popular classroom activities than I thought, Japan exclusivity is a strong detractor, and many of you pointed out the value of voice acting, something I completely overlooked when making this tier list!

Before watching the video, I’d probably just say one of the older ones without voice acting and that has mid music (not that any of them have all mid music, but we like some better than others)

Only game I've ever played in class was Sacred Stones during s Philosophy class I took. Ppayed it fir like 5 minutes before turning it off because my conscience thought I should be taking notes instead

a few things i want to say (prepare for extreme yapping): shadow dragon doesn't have supports, also a thing that it would have in it's favour is that if enough units die you get replacement, so if you get distracted and make an error you are penalized a bit less. new mystery of the emblem is quite literally japan only, so that's probably why didn't see anyone with the game. blazing blade is on the switch online gba thing, so you could also play it on the switch (though it would be a inferior choice for class imo). binding blade is also on the switch thing but only for the japanese version. also in my opinion fire emblem echoes is a horrible choice to play in class, because you both miss the stellar music and the wonderful voice acting, i can't imagine playing fire emblem echoes and not hearing lukas voice, it's so good (also the dungeons parts would probably be the best part of the game to play in class, since it has a lot of things to destroy and stuff and enemy encounters that are max a minute long so they would be good for a in class momento to play and stop) this isn't fire emblem related but the famicom is how it was called in japan, in the rest of the world it's called the nes. not only is it bad to play genealogy in class because of the story, it's also because of the gameplay, because the maps are the largest on the series and the prologue alone probably takes you like minimum half and hour or an hour, so it's too long for playing during class. thracia would be bad because it has a lot of mechanics you would need to pay attention to, like when you would need to capture, or the characters fatigue, so you would probably play a lot worse and rush things more than you should. my bad for making the longest comment i've ever made

Oh damn i loved most of Lorenz‘ supports. There‘s amazing stuff in there, some of the most meaningful character bonding in Golden Deer… honestly think you didn‘t give him a chance because of the damn c support with Byleth
