- In this video, I try out an interesting Sun team that finished in the top 50 of the October Ranked season! It utilizes a lot of tricks such as Focus Sash Flutter Mane with Trick Room, Defense Booster Energy Brute Bonnet, Rocky Helmet Torkoal, and Cornerstone Ogerpon! Cornerstone Ogerpon in particular can deal massive amounts of damage and catch opposing teams off guard. It's also a great pick into teams with Amoonguss as it can ignore Rage Powder!

My day becomes better when Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng uploads another episode of "Road to Ranked" where he climbs the online Regulation E VGC ladder in Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes
It truly never gets old.
That double flinch in game 1 was brutal.
Wait I’ve watched on. Triple
Still won that match which is bonkers. He has so much skill.
Pure Aaron Zheng gameplay
@@rooislangwtf*Aaron cybertron zheng* put sum respec on his name 🤣🤝
SPOILER ALERT
Aaron got through the 3 stages of despair in the first game.
Sadness, Pain, Laughing and accepting his fate
Loving these 90 minute uploads. If you decided this was the format going forward we'd all be happier for it!
im with ya!
Was just gonna say I get so excited when the videos are this long 🙏🏼
QOTD - Ogerpon is probably the single most interesting pokemon in the format. It can serve tons of purposes, from offensive sweepers to defensive support mons. It also doesn’t feel overpowered or overbearing in the metagame, which is a real breath of fresh air after dealing with urshifu for multiple regulations. I can’t wait to see how it continues to develop
The power whip was guaranteed OHKO because Ursaluna had life orb chip
I'm a big fan of cornerstone ogerpon on the singles ladder. A fast pokemon with rock attacks and sturdy gets a lot done over there.
As a note, that blood moon had taken Life Orb recoil when it vaccum waved, so it wasn't at 100% when you power whipped.
Am I missing something or side Stomping would have been a very bad choice in 20:27 game 1 no matter what? Stomping has 75 base power, which becomes 150 if you miss. Cudgel has 100 but gets STAB so 150 as well. Both are neutral into Amoonguss. But Cudgel does not make contact, preventing Rocky Helmet, and also has that higher crit chance. Am I wrong?
Yes, I was thinking exactly all you pointed. Ivy Cudgel is a safer option because Rocky Helmet damage would be catastrophic, the only reason I realised is if Amoongus was Aguav Berry or another one which activates on 1/3 HP, but Sitrus is more common in first place.
He did something similar in game 2, where he stompinged a Tera Fire Hands instead of Ivy Cudgeling, my best guess is that internally he thinks cornerstone is ground? Idk
Yeah he also used stomping tantrum when ivy cudgel would have done the same damage to Arcanine (75x4=100x1.5x2), I think there is probably something else
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think stomping had a benefit, maybe he just got mixed up or something?
I think he missed the Stab bonus modifier and thought "2x75 is more than 1x100".
Ivy Cudgel is almost always better than stomping tantrum which is probably mainly there for hitting steel types for super effective damage.
I really like how you don’t stray off topic. You give thorough explanations without dragging the pacing out for too long. I come here to watch and learn competitive Pokémon and that’s exactly what you deliver. Been watching your content consistently at the end of my work days. Earned a sub from me for sure.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
Just for reference of why maths are cool (or hurt):
The chance for Rock Slide hitting both opponents is 81%
The chance of making both opponents flinch is 9% (if it's already connected)
The chance of all of that happening is 7.29%. You'd have better luck with Fissure.
Please can you explain how you calculated this? I wanna know how these calculated work. Im intrigued and wanna learn! ^^
Could you run the calc on something for me? Had rockslide double miss both my pokemon two turns in a row and miss my left lead on the third turn.
I was not running brightpowder or any accuracy lowering moves, and it was from a lando T.
Triple flinches? Hella brutal.
I love the concept of Pollen Puff as a move. Healing to your allies but damaging to your opponets. Intriguing and unique in Pokémon.
QOTD: Ogerpon is FINALLY a GREAT grass type legendary seeing play in VGC, couldn’t be happier, love the ability to change type and masks
Loving these looong episodes, thanks for the content Aaron❤
Absolutely love the long Episodes!
Back to back Zheng is back baby! Thanks for the content Aaron!
It's funny how well the good old CHALK has held up after all this time. Obviously, Mega Khangaskhan isn't a thing anymore but the other four you still see all the time, not necessarily all together, but you see various combination of the members.
Serene Grace Landorus wow
That first game was something!
Cybertron thanks for the game. I had a great time and learned a lot from your team and mine. I hope to meet you again. Kisses of Anubis
A fun stream idea would be for the community to make some random rental teams for Aaron to randomly select from and to try to win games of unranked matches with.
You totally willed those flinches into existence in that first game rip
Hey Cybertron . Thanks for all the content. Id like to ask you if you could probably make an updated guide about getting started with teambuilding for new players. Sometimes I just dont know how people build their teams so fast without doing hacks or stuff like that. Especially when you need to change values on your legendary pokemon.
A guide would be great to tie everything together :)
Rock ogrepon looks really interesting
RUclips creating a mix of THE A😊aron Cybertron Zang? This is a good day 😁
So I’m not really a competitive Pokémon player I just watch for fun but Ogerpon to me is really cool. I like that she has a bunch of different forms and has cool designs.
Love me some sun teams
Nice. I exclusively used a sandstorm team with rock oger in october and he became my favorite version. 100% accurate rock move is so good. Got to 200 on the ladder but then life got too busy and i couldn't play the last ten days of the month to go for that top 100 grind 😅
"since chien pao's special defense is pretty slow"
you mean both its defenses are pretty slow, it is literally a paper tiger 😂
also, the fact that volcarona could've wipe the entire team if not for bonnet is scary! it is nice to see this pokemon in reg e, since i wasn't playing before last season to see it, and i very rarely see it on ladder even though i don't play very often after master
aaron has been looking fresh lately
i love the ogerpons and i feel like they did a great job balancing them
16:46 thats just a classic
if theres a rock slide theres a way like daaaaaamn
Do you think that Wailord could operate similarly to Torkoal if it had access to drizzle?
It used splash!
*It started to rain!*
Would be cool to have more weather setters though.
Yep a very much back to basics with flutter. I heard sash is rising again with all the "this calc investment one shots flutter" talk
I'm late here but game 3 turn 1, I think cudgel is the same damage with a safer result, isn't it? Mask boost, stab, and super effectiveness all accounted for, both have 360 base power into harcanine.
game 1: oh baby a triple
that is why i like using covert cloak on slow pokemon! they will never flinch
this entire team is weak to rock slide, if you count bonnet's tera and flutter not having physical defense
No idea what to comment but will comment anyway for the algorithm boost
Would sacred sword ignore brute bonnets defense boost from protosynthesis?
27:39 Topic: Opponent's ability to Vacuum Wave into Ghost Tera Chi-Yu -- earnest question here, does Vacuum Wave hit a ghost type? Is there an effect about the move I don't know about since its new tech, or is there something about the game state that allows it, that I'm not seeing? Thanks in advanced 🙏
Ursaluna Bloodmoon's ability, Mind Eye, allows it to hit Ghost types with Fighting type attacks: "This Pokemon can hit Ghost types with Normal- and Fighting-type moves."
@CybertronVGC oh gosh, I thought it's only effect was normal moves could hit ghost types 💀 thank you!
Rock Ogre is super underrated imho.
QOTD: Oddly enough, Ogerpon feels like it kind of goes against the idea of Terra-type-changing, as is the gimmick of this generation. All other mons, you may have an idea what the common Terra types are, but you may be wrong. Ogerpon you just know exactly what to expect - so there are no surprises, and make it a lot more predictable as to what it's going to do. And you can't really select a defensive Terra either. So.. It's interesting, yet feels restrictive compared to all other mons for competitive play
It makes up for it though by having amazing abilities in and in its mask forms a no-drawback 120 power move as well as a really good move pool.
@@hardworkingslacker7233 oh yeah, they are really good - just more restricted
Qotd: it's cute, that is all.
Can vacuum wave even hit ghost types?
Normally, no, but Ursaluna Bloodmoon has a unique ability: "This Pokemon can hit Ghost types with Normal- and Fighting-type moves."
wonder how this team will work in reg f
Is your internet back my dude?
Vacuum wave into ghost types? In this economy??
Ogerpon was a little overhyped imo. It’s died down a bit on how much Ogerpon was being used everywhere (especially fire). I think they’re all good and flexible but they’re not must haves like some people first thought.
(Also, nothing to do with anything but I have to say Let’s go T1!)
Why invest in speed for brute Bonnet when you could invest more for bulk in like special defense or even more in defense?
Speed plus Icy Wind to outrun things. You also outrun slow un-invested bulky things to Spore them. It was for the Spore support and it runs train if Icy Wind drops a few things.
@@cartergamegeek that makes so much more sense thanks G
@@chicken_lane172 To add to that your natural bulk is also solid so you are more of a wall breaker that has natural bulk. Thing has good Attack and that helps break past slower bulky things with having the Spore support. The team is clearly letting this thing run train over stuff once you help drop Speed via Icy Wind or just outrun the support sets you now beat by a few points.
4 Pokémon weak to fighting moves is so scary
Screw it ongabongus's return
pokesports have the same team on they new video
QOTD: I like the design, but it’s just way too min maxed, it’s hold item is insane, and it has way too many options
I played you my name Alexander I almost had you lol. I’m rank 289 now I believe
Yayayayayayyayayayaya I like pokeman
I thought you just had bad burn luck but flinching too. Yikes
Why is every Iron Hands named Ferropalmas? Its just Iron Hands in Spanish?
It is one from a Spanish speaking area. On ranked you only see the default names so that would be one from a game that was set to Spanish. That is legit just the Spanish name.
Can Aaron read Japanese? Whenever the game announces a Pokémon is about to come out he knows what it is before it hits the field
Flinches are so bad for your games
but make for great TV lmao
Day 39 of requesting a Snorlax team! Have fun everyone!!!
Day 40 of requesting a snorlax team! be happy everyone!

triple flinch. That was not your game.
SPOILER BLOCK
Stoping kids from saying first 🗿
Anybody wanna chat/play/share VGC ideas? I love Aaron’s videos but have no friends who play :(
27 m, if anyone of a similar age wants to game!😊
