I don't think anything was off. The harmonies were intentional. It challenges you to try to understand what you are listening to. It was deliberately done to reflect their new creative take on this classic production. Yes, they could have sang the original score if Disney allowed it. This was much fresher! I loved it. I loved the book performances as well. They were a surprise! You can't possibly have expected perfection from those impromptu performances made from their cellphones or laptops and edited into the overall performance. It was simply amazing and made it more special.

Thank you for your sweet comment, Chaunna! Thanks to this version being so dear to 20-somethings today, all generations are looking back and enjoying the nostalgia of these songs even back to the musical's premiere on television in 1957 with Julie Andrews. I find it heartwarming.

I had the exact same reaction when Brandy came out. She hasn't aged a day! Loved this medley!

Hi Kurtis! Yes, it's nice to see Brandy looking so sweet and lithe as we remember her from years ago. She still moves like a gazelle.

I gave this a thumbs up but I felt the critique didn't show or express how good this production was in light of pandemic conditions. The brilliance of it was not appreciated by your guest. There was no/none comments on Brandy's vocals. Why?

I felt the same about those harmonies just because I'm so used to how it is in the movie, but I believe what they did was intentional in an attempt to make it feel a bit more edgy/hip hop. If they didn't like what they had done, they would have redone it. And as for the end, I'm curious too about Paulo being off. We know he can sing, so I'm wondering what track they gave him to sing to.

I suppose they could have changed what they didn't like, if indeed they didn't, but considering that this amounts to a promo and is not meant for permanence, they could have cut corners somehow. Regarding Paolo, he wasn't the only one who sounded off. Maybe we noticed more cause he was first. All those singers sounded dry and unmastered and their pitches were rather suspect--more shortcuts because it's just a promo? Odd, if so, because they did put a lot of great work into the arrangements and the dance sequences and effects. Why not give 100% effort? It must boil down to money. "Good enough" costs less than "excellent."

@@DayleSong The quality difference between Todrick and Brandy and the smart phone singers (as I'll call them) is to be expected just based on the manner in which they were recorded. I also feel like "from home" recordings are often left a bit raw to bring about a more encompassing "We're all in this together" vibe.

@@kurtislawler984 Perhaps. That is a choice. It borders on the jarring, however.

His assessment of Brandy and Todrick’s voices isn’t accurate.. but I liked your reaction to the vid... Is he not familiar with Brandy portraying Roxy? On Broadway...... 🤔
