My husband and I just moved and I know it's always good to purge before moving, but we were literally pushed out of our house in two weeks right after the holidays, so needless to say we didn't have much time. This has given me the motivation to go upstairs and do some purging. :) Out with the old and in with the new! and here's hoping that champs top will be a part of the new for me. Love ya!
Your tips are all good. What she says about "do this in layers" is perfect. Start with getting rid of the stuff you don't want, don't need. There is no argument with don't want, don't need, so it's easy.
Loved this video! I love being organized and purging my closet is one of my favorite ways to stay organized. I'm always surprised by the pieces I find that I've forgotten about.
Such great advice!! I hate purging but it needs done- i love the idea of keeping for 6 months and then pulling it back out to see if you still want it. If I still have trouble deciding I'll probably keep it for another 6 months to see how I feel about it then.
Great show Heather, as usual. I am a single, 45 year old woman on disability. I can not afford to buy clothes. Everything I have is used from friends or the Church. I would LOVE to have one nice, decent shirt in my wardrobe. I know everyone wants it, but I guess I can ask to. Thank you.

I totally needed this video. I just moved and have been trying to downsize but I have the hardest time getting rid of things I'm emotionally attached to. I'd love to see how you organize your closet and more tips and tricks on spring cleaning. Especially handbags and little clutches! :)
Thank you for this segment. Last year I was watching a talk show and they challenged everyone to donate a piece of clothing to charity for every day in January. Because we all have closets and drawers full of clothes that we never get to or don't fit anymore. I meant to do it again this year but time went so fast. Your video reminded me of the challenge so I went through my closet this morning and have 3 bags of clothes ready to go. 😄
Just finished purging my closet, got the hint when you mentioned it in your last video. 😉. The champs blouse is adorable and is the style I'm looking to buy, but can't afford right now. I want to feel and look more sophisticated but comfortable at the same time. Single income household here and I always put my kids and husband before myself. I could use a little spruce up; it helps with confidence, self esteem, and anxiety/depression. It's always a good thing to purge and shop your own wardrobe. Many surprises arise. I feel like I'm in a transitional style rut at times. Thanks for the info HD! 💕

A light bulb has just gone off I have a wadrode of amazing clothes and I spent most of my time in my pygamas and dressing gown( not a good look ). So first things first have a clear out and then let's actually wear some of these clothes. Thanks Heather. x

you made some good points and so glad you do not agree that if you have not worn it in a year it needs to go, I have had things for 20 yrs like kimono silk robes that are still like new and beautiful. I am one of those women who fluctuate between a size 8 to a size 16 and my clothes are cute, there fore no matter what size I am there are always nice things to wear.
Funny, I cleaned my closet just a month ago, feels great! Now I have 2 bags of clothes sitting in the trunk of my car, ready to be donated. (Now that I watched your episodes, including "what's vintage", I think I'll go over those bags one more time)🥂PS: This is like unscheduled meditation 🕺
Hi Heather, I love your closet. That's now my dream closet. I have a question: I am sharing a small shoes closet with my husband. I noticed the closet has a strong odor. I think the odor is from his shoes. I have been putting a lot of air fresheners in there, and the odor has been reduced but not go away. Would you please do a episode how to eliminate odor in shoes closet completely?

Great advice about how to purge. Luckily I'm at a stage where I will donate and not put boxes in my garage, I get it out right away. Not so easy for everyone to do so your advice is perfect! I've been wanting to purge for months. But as soon as I get started the memories overcome me. Well no more. I want, no, I need an organized closet that says "welcome" when I open the doors and not "oh no do you really need to go out tonite".
Good tips. Not sure I would want to purge any of my things I've taken time to buy. If too loose or too small definitely could. I don't have the luxury to buy things for no reason like you do.
