Geese can be great farm pets. If raised from lil gosling peeps that are imprinted on people, they are very nice. Even geese naturally hatched on the farm and reared by their mom can turn out nice if you interact with them all daily. The knobbed Chinese geese can be ornery, but again it's in how you raise them. I had one that I could hand feed, and he would come up and step on my feet begging. Geese are pretty smart too, smarter than most ducks, and are always curious and checking everything out. I had something like 27 geese at one time. Over 24 years they dwindled down to about 4. I had 1 gander who was about 20-21, maybe older, when he died. Wrong path will be to eat meat of sentient kinds. Foie gras is an extreme excess, but whole rejection of meat industry because of "humanism" is stupid. We are omnivores and all our history were eating meat, not only by hunting but by raising too.

I appreciate that they are using all the parts of the goose, even the feathers. There's nothing wrong with eating meat, but humans need to respect the animals more. Small cages and force feeding shouldn't be a thing.
We have our own farm, consisting of a variety of chickens. We let them roam around the entire farm in the day, and when they are ready to lay an egg, they go into the coup and lay. We don't usually kill the chickens, the only ones we kill are the roosters who rape the hens or kill other chickens.
Chickens are cheaper right?
Why not caged them and force feed them so I can eat cheap foie gras everyday

He was already an adult when we got him, so no idea of actual age. One day I will live rural again and have more pet geese! I tried foi gras once and didn't like it. Force feeding like that is nasty.
