Amazing to see Lendl turn things around and win 3 in a row after losing the first 3. It takes courage to turn adversity into success..the great Lendl..82-89..8 straight US open finals👍
The McEnroe vs Connors 1980 US Open Semifinal was the match that made me think I should play tennis. The drama was incredible, at the time. The 1980 Wimbledon final vs Borg absolutely decided it.
mac vs jimbo. best matches ever. connors was the only player john got intimidated by on a psychological level. it's somehow sensible that he was even a little afraid of him personally. no way john could get into jim's head, and both knew it. it's two of the greatest that ever played the game, skill wise and from a competitve standpoint. clash of two supergifted egos. and the crowd loved both. must've been so much fun to be a crowd spectator. rivalries like that are rare. we are so lucky to witness federer, nadal and djokovic today. but there's no "personal" heat in it, really. just buds who fight it out. not like in the old days. nothing like mac vs jim. miss it!
@john smith as far as i know from the late 80s on. his big wins were before that time. if i'm wrong on that i'm fine with you telling me so. but what's your problem with language? but so what, have a nice day anyways.
@john smith you clearly have at least a language issue. show me a link where he admitted/ or has been proven to having taken illegal steroids his whole career. if you can you're right and i'm ready to reconsider his achievements in another light. he was still a magician oncourt. name just a couple tennisplayers, who could match up with his feel for the ball and finesse. your conclusion is wholeheartedly just a piece of one-dimensional crap.
I need to say....I was ages 12-22 growing up from 1980-1990. I swear my memory told me Connors was a baseline grinder who only came to the net to pick up the balls. As I go back and watch these matches, it dawns on me that Connors was MORE than willing to take a short ball and come in to try and end a point. He only attacked the shortest balls, and it was one volley and done, or he was in trouble. But Connors absolutely was NOT as one dimensional as I used to think - or as your comment would indicate. He was a solid and willing volleyer - with out any of the flair or touch of a McEnroe.
@@63002 well she was a woman playing women. So it's a parallel comparison. Saying they were slower only means she was not playing men. That doesn't make her skill any less refined.
@andreasmissiroli "77 & '81 vs Borg at Wimbledon, '80 vs McEnroe at The US Open. You could possibly throw '84 US Open vs McEnroe but that wasn't as much a choke as both players coming up with the goods when it counted
@andreasmissiroli I'm glad that we can discuss this in a civil manner and agree to disagree.I would say, and think that you'd agree, that Jimmy like John & Roger played the aggressor especially against Borg just as they did/do against Lendl & Djoker. When one plays aggressively errors are to be expected. My point, I suppose, is that Jimmy's were particularly bad at crucial moments. In the end, it all adds up to great tennis and great memories for us the fans
Beautiful compilation. Kudos!

コナーズvsアガシ マッケンローvsサンプラス とか凄え
i have the VHS video!
Goddamn Connors is so friggin cool.
Today's tennis looks a lot faster. The ball is moving twice this speed.
82年のコナーズは全英。全米と両方とったんだよね。強かった。
Cuando el tenis era hermoso cada jugador con su estilo y no los clones que hay ahora casi todos jugando igual.
Always wondered what happened with the third McEnroe child, Mark?
He is a successful lawyer.
McEnroe and Tatum o Neal on 26:41
McEnroe.was (is) the best volleyer. of.all.time.
navratolova might have something to say about that
Sampras was also very good.
Mac's reflexes are insane
@@thertisan3440 no way.. she had easy shots hit at her. Way slower. She's very good tho

"Give this man a chance to choke!" says the man who choked plenty of times against his chief rivals on the big stage! :-/
