At 2:32 .. he refers to young guy that plays for Sting ... he incorrectly says his name is Micheal Robello, its actually Jason Rebello who is from London. I met Jason Robello when i studied at Guild Hall School of Music & Drama in Barbican, London in the 90's .. he was a monster pianist then and went on to pioneer acid-jazz in the UK and was respected and praised by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter and took over from Kenny Kirkland in Stings Band.
Kevin Bond and Aaron Lindsey inspire me till date and I love the fact they talked about other guys in the hood who are sound on the piano. Love you guys... Look forward to Cory Henry, Kevin Bond and Aaron Lindsey in one room....
I think Mr. Bond put it best by saying, " All the other stuff is bells and whistles. It's how you interpret a song." That stuck out for me. That's a REAL indicator of what a MASTER MUSICIAN IS. RESPECT SIR.I HOPE TO MEET YOU ONE DAY.
I grew up copying Bond but I never knew who he was. I wish we had videos like this growing up. Kevin knows how to take a progression and try to flip it different on every loop|iteration. My favorite jazz/gospel piano. I always knew he was a jazz pianist. I took classical singing at school just to enhance my piano and production skills in the 9th grade because of that guy. I didn't know his name, but I recognized that playing. He's on all those 1980s-2000s albums. Like he said, he did 100s of albums/recordings. He's still doing albums. Just by me looking at his hands, I can tell what he's thinking. I also had a fascination with Scott Joplin, so my left hand is equal to the right. I still try to play songs in swapped hand positions.
AT LAST!!! I Have Been Waiting for this Video Since FOREVER. This is What Happens When You put Kevin Bond & Aaron Lindsey in the Same Room. 😀👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎼🎶🎹
Only 1255 views for these two gods? Something is wrong here. This should have hit a million views. I m sharing it. This is a precious moment...kinda like Ronaldo/Messi in the same room
Interesting moment. Great to see Kevin sharing in a setting such as this, very humble, natural rendition. Just need to hear more of Bond as the year progresses. Aaron, very humble also.
So someone please answer this question bfor me bc I'm so confused... are there two Kevin Bonds? Bc I see this Kevin Bond then I see another Kevin Bond at conventionsbwith shades on and deep raspy voice are they father and son and if so who's the father and this the son? I'm so confused
Yes, there are two Kevin Bonds, the last guy that played in this video and the other Kevin Bond is with James Hall, he's the one that talks and uses all the big words before the group sings
They are both good pianists, Lindsey and Bond. It's just that Bond played a bit longer. I did see good moves from Lindsey at 1:38. Otherwise they are equally good in piano.
Yes, I would also like to know. It could very well be original to him, but to me it also sounds like a Bobby Lyle tune. Stylistically, that's got Bobby Lyle written all over it. I'm gonna do my digging and try to come up with an answer.
Wow if you're going to record you got to learn to keep your mouth shut! After all we want to hear the musicians not your reactions bro. I mean come on man.
When Aron was playing, it didn’t commmand respect...When king bond started playing..He got the whole room close to him....Kevin bond is just wicked for no reason....
Kevin Bond is like George Benson...When they enter their field , they've got no match ...Aaron Lindsey is one of my favorite gospel pianist 's but Kevin Bond is something else ...i would phrase it like this : Aaron is the best amongst us humans , but Kevin is from another planet
That's an unnecessary comment. It's not about who commands respect as it is that both mean respect each other. Don't major on the minor. It takes away from the moment. I can't even do a quarter of what these gentlemen do. I respect them.
That's because Aaron started off trying to play someones else's sing that he couldn't really remember then he went into just speed shedding with his right hand while playing simple triads in his left (don't get me wrong it was dope). Kevin actually was playing organized music and soloing over progressions which is more grabbing. Plus.....he's KEVIN FREAKING BOND!😂
Aaron made some very good and nice runs before he got disturbed by the story about Ahmad Jamal. Aaron is showed how a beast he is. Maybe you should have opened your eyes more. Both these guys have different styles of interpretation but are very excellent in piano. Both are beast and both command respect.
Aaron Lindsey is one of my favourite gospel piano players but man o man Kevin Bond paints music like Picasso on a canvas ...for many years now ...
Kevin Bond is just out of the world!

Water Guard you welcome dawg!
What sas the sont of oscar that lindsey play pls....?
@Dinar Lorie - "Con Alma". Pianist Fred Hersch also has an excellent version of that song!
I thought that was Bod Powell who played with his left hand.

WOS THE BOSS BETWEEN AaRON LInsey and kevin bond

BOND.... Kevin Bond
The high pitch screech from the videographer was probably the best part of the video lol
Playing with the Big Boyys
Man this two cats are amazing gospel musicians.
What's the name of the two songs Aaron played ? NICE style , rich in harmony.
I think the first one he played was this Christmas song (or chestnut roasting on an open fire) second is con alma
