The ambition/plans Tomy had for this “robot” is incredible in hindsight.
I like him the best of the Tomy robot series.
Thanks John 🤖
On back says sensor,timer
It would be cool to have the extra sensors and things they had paned to sell for the robot.
@@Robothut I guess those were sold separately
I was always curious about these when I saw one during the credits of Short Circuit in the couple of deleted scenes at the end. Thanks for showing us :)
Yes it was cool seeing one in the credits, it was short clip as I recall and they tip it over or something. Its been years since I saw that.
Yeah that's the first time I saw this robot as well
This Bot is the crown jewel in my collection. I currently own 2 of these and a busted unit for spare parts. The search began after seeing this fellow in the Short Circuit end credits.
Yes I got a kick out of seeing it used in the end credits of Short Circuit also. I bought mine New when they came out. Good times.
I remember these. They were pretty advanced for their day. I wanted one but they were too expensive for me back then.
Yes it was a investment for sure. There is a seen at the end of Short Circuit where they show one running and falling off a porch or something.
@@Robothut Oh! I'll have to rewatch it! I haven't seen those movies in years!
"Then you could pour the drink ... and ruin your robot." LOL! That's a pretty impressive piece of machinery, the most useful of the Tomy robots that I've seen. It's too bad the other arm wasn't motorized as well. If it was, I could see it being programmed as a bartender (albeit a really slow one).
The only cup that would fit in the motorized tray would be a Dixi cup or some drinking cup for a toddler. yes 2 motorized arms would have been great.
I also agree, very Yuge robot of the Tomys. I love this design, so 80's. I never seen or heard of this robot back then. perhaps Radio shack may have had it, but elsewhere. I notice it has Mrs. Radicon's hands. Very cool. Maybe have to study that mechanism. That is a beauty, take care of her.
great vid! thanks for showing your ,bot! I believe that the omnibot 2000 was the most advanced robot you could buy in a store at the time. The only other ones I can think of were the heathkit hero robots, but you had to build and program them.
Here are my Heathkit robots.

I remember these. But they were out of range. Not for sale in the Netherlands and it was probable way above my budget anyway.
As big as the robot and box are I bet shipping to the Netherlands would be crazy expencive.
This guy sounds huge!
Yes it is a big toy robot for sure.
I adore the design of this robot so much. But it is disappointing only one arm moves. I kinda want to see and updated version of it that would have more axis of movement
great robot for using ARC .then you have averything like camera ,face recog ,color recog .
speech and allot more .
Yes a great base for mods.
@@Robothut its very easy in use ARC .
New they were $299 dollars at Toys R Us
What a beautiful example! Did you buy that new? Thankfully he didn't yellow !!
Yes I bought it new, just had to have a perfect mint in box one. If it warms up a bit I will do a video on Maxx Steele, it was a much more advanced robot as it was all digital have a real computer inside, but its battery pack is a odd ball 10 volts. Made up from 5 cells each rated at 2 volts. They still sell the 2 volt batterys on line but it seems like too much money to spend on a video then never use them again so I many make up a long cable and voltage drop circuit and run it off a 12 volt battery.
@@Robothut I love these 80's bots but from a 'playing' point of view they seem needlessly complicated. I like install batteries & turn on the switch but then again guess these were never intended for kids 😏
@@OzziesRobots They were meant for the kids of the future that love programing. Not us old farts.
The sensors did all exist, but they’re hard to find- I have a couple omnibot so I’ve been looking for them myself if anybody has them or any of them, please let me know.
Send me some photos of them so I can duplicate.
If you ever would sell the box from the Omnibot 2000, I'd really love to have a nice box like that, I'd pay handsomely. Please let me know, thanks!
I never sell anything from the Robothut museum. One day the Museum will be sold as I am getting old. But not for now.
