Fun Historial Fact about Panfilov's Men. the story was inspired by a book Volokolamsk Highway by Alexandr Bek told the story of the unknown platoon form the 316 Guard division who held up the entire German front until the last man, the account was so well written in from of Tactical information and Troop deposition, it (the book) became a must read for Military Tactican and was a prescribed material on most Military Academy (The Soviet Union, IDF, Sandhurst and even West Point) Which is likes the Soviet "Brécourt Manor Assault" However, the Soviet initiated an afterbattle investigation after WW2 , and in 1948 found out that the story of Panfilov's Men is merely a work of fiction (the 28 did exist but the battle in general is make up and not all of them died during the war). The battle account never existed, the Soviet Government went on and hide the report and designated it National Secret (which would have put on the level of Soviet's Nuclear capability in term of secrecy) and started commemorate the 28th regardless and building shire and statue all around soviet territories. And it is not until the dissolving of Soviet Union the secret of Panfilov's 28 were being unearthed. The book stays as prescibed material in most Military Academy.
Thanks @Running Prods - I never before heard the story, but from beginning of the introduction to the mission it seemed like a cheap soviet propaganda :)
Ha!. Well that's interesting. But it just comes to show. In times of war, inspiration taken from...well...tales of "heroism" may stir at least a few just as well as a good resupply.
@@MrNuggin Well...........The story was actaully and essentially true, the Panfilov's 28 DID exist, the 1075 Infantry Regiment, 8th Guards Division (316 Guards Division before changing its designation) did exist, and the battle itself did exist. However, the actual battle account was romanticized. The 28 did not died holding he highway, there were battle in on Volokolamsk Highway, and the Panvilov 28 did engage with the German Panzer, but the offcial account (If I remember correctly) was that they suffer a heavy casualty and retreated and the area was occupied by the German until later, on 20 Dcember another element form 1075 division counter attacked and retake the position. In fact, official report suggested that 7 of the 28 survived the battle, and 2 of the 28 died on Nov 14, 2 days before said battle occure, one of the 28 in particular, Ivan Dobrobabin had surrendered to the German when he went unconsicous and found by German Burial Detail and actaully joining the German Army afterward, he was arrested back in 1942 and was forced denounce he is one of the 28 and was sent to hard labour, he died in 1996 On the other hand, despite all that, Soviet Union celebrate the Panfilov 28 as if they are National Heroes, they did gave the Panfilov 28 Hero of the Soviet Union as a collective unit, and the besmirching of Panfilov 28 (even tho the account is proven to be faslified) is still not a tolorable subject in Russia, you will basically be "Cancelled" if you do that. IIRC, they did that by firing one historian with Russian State Archive back in 2015 for stating the account is inaccurate.
@@durandal4546 To be fair, the book is quite well written, and it talks quite a lot of about static defence tactics and small unit tactics, I read it when I was in the service, and if I remember correctly the books is out of print in English and you can only get them in Russian now. However, that said, it is nothing but a 50 years lies. It took advantage of Alexandr Bek as a combat correspondent for a Moscow Newspaper and while I can see whyh they have to do that back then (Because Soviet Union is at the edge of losing the war when the German is 30 click from Moscow) they need some kind of X-Factor to maintain the morale, and hence the Panfilov 28 account. and we need to know, even some of the western account in heroism are glorified in war and was exploited. So i can only say this happen quite a lot in WW2, but nothing as prolific as this in this scale tho.
@@MrNuggin It's not entirely false though, it's just romanticized. It's basically a symbol of how soviet soldiers defended their country and freedom against all odds.
FYI: Panfilov's 28 guardsmen was a myth created by Soviet propaganda to boost the troops morale in the most critical days of war but there's indeed Unit lead by Panfilov halted the German advance for a day, only after that battle they start to create some fabrications. Today it's wildly accepted that this story as some shot of legend, meaning half true but with exaggeration.
Those Soviet records have the funny tendency to usually claim several times the number of Panzers killed in every battle, than the Germans even had in that battle. In some battles the Soviet historical records say that like 200 German tanks were destroyed in some battle and when you look at the German records you'll find that the German forces had like 15 Panzers at the beginning of the battle and half of them got stuck at some bridge and never entered the battle. So I'd take tales like that of those 28 heroes with a grain of salt.
@@DeltaSig6 Read up on this a bit, especially what historians say about it. They base their research on tons of communication material, mostly German field officers writing angry letters to their commanders, complaining about lack of resources and promised equipment that didn't arrive and stuff like that. A: The Soviets, being winners of the war and isolating themselves from the rest of the world afterwards, had time to wipe the records clean after the war and replace everything they didn't like with propaganda. Basically the first thing they did was to give everyone a radio, the infamous "Volksempfanger" ("People's Receiver"), so everyone could listen to Hitler's speeches, but as is the nature of things, people could also use those radios to listen to foreign and enemy radio, which everyone did and the Nazis didn't mind it, because they actually thought they had the truth on their side. Apparently the story of the 28 Guardsmen has been found to be just a myth. Turns out it was just another typical battle; the Panzers sweep in, the Soviets get overwhelmed, they retreat.
If that was a typical battle than why did the Germans flee without even reaching Moscow, geinus? The battle in question was a case of outstanding performance of the Soviet troops the reports of which were later twisted and exaggerated by the military propaganda into a myth about a dramatic last stand of 28 heroes. That however doesn't change the fact that that day the Germans got their asses whooped. Yes not by 28 soldiers, who all died to the last, as the Sovied press reported, but by a far larger unit that soon afterwards retreated, managing to win time for the entrenching units on the secondary lines and messing up the German plans.
@@egorkoshevoy6694 That is my point exactly. However, being rude does not help your case. You said: " _why did the Germans flee without even reaching Moscow, genius?_ "

Well, the crosshair for the enemy artillery was over their own units.. It is the one shown on the minimap, not the one on your soldiers from that strafingrun by the fighter.. :D
In fact the first year of the Second World War for the Soviet people was 1936. And the action began in Spain. 1811 specialists were sent to Spain, including 772 aviators, 351 tankmen, 222 combined-arms advisers and instructors, 77 sailors, more than 150 various other military specialists, 130 workers and engineers of aircraft factories, 156 signalmen, 204 interpreters. At the same time, there were never more than 600-800 Soviet advisers and specialists in Spain at the same time. 127 Soviet advisers and specialists were killed in battle, 11 died of wounds, 32 went missing, and 19 people died in accidents. In total, the Soviet Union handed over 347 tanks, at least 243 guns (including anti-aircraft), 648 aircraft of various types to the Republicans. In 1941, Germans made it personal, the war became the Great Patriotic War.
I like how the narrative just casually forgets to mention that a post-war Soviet military tribunal and investigation declared the whole "Panfilov's 28 men" as a propaganda stunt, those 28 men nonexistent, the result of the hectic retreat from Volokolamsk, while the actual unit that put fierce resistance got completely forgotten.

It's not like CoH at all gameplay wise though. It's basically another Men of War game, which is fine. That's a great series. (Except for MOW: Cold War, which was forcibly released in a barely alpha state for some reason and promptly abandoned) Unfortunately, we'll likely never get anything as good as CoH1 ever again. The new owners of the game are convinced that RTS games are a "Dead" genre, and that's why CoH2 was extremely mediocre and Dawn of War III was a MOBA, not a real strategy game, with a marketing campaign composed entirely of lies.

Can i just say u sir are the reason i ended up getting both wargames and have finally started the curve upward in skill, and now it looks like im gunna be paying attention to this game and will probably buy it ❤❤ keep up the awesome vids
You said:
" _why did the Germans flee without even reaching Moscow, genius?_ "
@@egorkoshevoy6694 geez you okay buddy?
Says who? Not the soviet record, sure the revisionist liberals and their western paymasters pushed that bullshite back in the 90s. The battle was recorded and is archived as a real fact.
28 is what was left of the initial company after initial battles. Of those 28, 6 survived.
Raptor: "Their troops suck, their artillery sucks, their planes suck, their tanks suck......"
German Panzer Leader: "......Send in the Jagdtiger!!!!"
I haven't seen the whole video yet but I like to imagine this scenario. 😂
I was thinking a good tactic might be to use artillery on tracked tanks.
@@spudpud-T67 What about putting less people on artillery and making sure the AT guns are fully crewed instead? Would that help?
Incoming shell sounds from Call of Duty 1... how classy is that.
just watching the movie on youtube couple hours ago, youtube algorithm, didn't knew that's scenario of Gates of Hell.
The movie is from the same people who's behind War Thunder lol :)
nice going with sharing this!! feels hectic, which is good. and ATRs are usually used to take out specific bits of a tank, tracks, etc...
yeah but its not mentioned in-game bout setting up mine individually 7:50 unless it's in the manual had to figure that out mi self. that last german did a Backflip 47:54 when got dead LoL, one thing that would of been really good is for the Medics to Revive the Dead on there own with you having to manage it.
Looks good cant wait....miss the old men of war A S 2
Company of heroes vibe here lol
Been looking forward to GOH. Looks great!
Actual battle was in the fields outside of the village. Watch the movie to get a true feel. Other than that looks like Men of War with a graphics upgrade.
Odd seeing aerial spotting in what appears to be pea soup fog conditions.
Well, the crosshair for the enemy artillery was over their own units.. It is the one shown on the minimap, not the one on your soldiers from that strafingrun by the fighter.. :D
When this comes out please cover raptor much love am giving you a like on vid 👍
Holy shit, it's been years since I've watched a Raptor video. Nice!
So good with these elite games raptor ty bro cool
Hey, new men of war
Men of war with new skin.
@@uglytuco3079 and better animations
and i hope with optimization (MOST IMPORTANT)
Going to wish this for sure, thx for sharing
I really need to get back into RTS gameplay
Glory to raptoria!
Great video as always. I am playing the beta test as well. Very good so far. I am really looking forward to the finished game.
Looks fun. cant wait to play.
Holy crip it's a crapple...I think we got 'em, cant be sure...
17:30-19:55 no sound. Am I only one? Anyway another good video. Thank you!
I'm pretty jealous that Console can't play most of these great RTS game
They dont care about us
I like how the narrative just casually forgets to mention that a post-war Soviet military tribunal and investigation declared the whole "Panfilov's 28 men" as a propaganda stunt, those 28 men nonexistent, the result of the hectic retreat from Volokolamsk, while the actual unit that put fierce resistance got completely forgotten.
Commanded like a true commissar 😂😂😂
this is the game im waiting for i am a big fan of the man of war series
This is fucking dope I hope they do more theaters of the war
THROUGH THE GATES OF HELL AS WE MAKE OUR WAY TO HEAVEN
39:39 Cool!
The rifle grenade may have had to use the special blank shells to launch rather than regular bullets
Im no Patton but Maybe put some mines on the main road and send up your other squad to support that flanking tank.
The game is unbelievable good! Tried it myself! Huge fan already! But i want to play skirmish! Hope it won't last long!
Finally, a new MOW.
no, it's just a Call To Arms DLC, lol
@@randleman3449 What a pity.
There won't be new MOW. There will be just tons of shitty useless bugged crap you can buy for nonsense money. Devs of these games are just pathetic thiefs.
All these men are dying.... I'm watching & yelling at my own computer; "RETREAT & REGROUP! instead of trying to find and get a soldier to man a gun!"
Everyone & I appreciate the video contents that you're making though lol
Cool game. Nice watching you play it. Hope to get this one when out.
I hope it becomes pretty big
Through the gates of Hell
GLORY TO RAPTORIA
Thanks.i was thinking about call to arms the other day, but couldn't remember the name of it.knew I had it in my library just couldn't remember the name.
Good. Very good!
This is basically MOWAS 2 but 4K
BTW there aren't any 'official records' from either side that suggest **The 28 Men** existed.
Good thing it seems very Company of heroes inspired crossed with order of war , looks awesome!!!!
Glad to see more and more games featuring eastern front. But they seem lacking the bloody and brutal aura in COD5
Finally a men of war game that isn't a copy paste of previous versions
I love it that the story of Dyatlov’s 28 men is shown in videogames!
A Soviet study in 1948 found the story to be almost entirely a fabrication.
Ayyyy finally something like Company of Heroes
It's not like CoH at all gameplay wise though. It's basically another Men of War game, which is fine. That's a great series. (Except for MOW: Cold War, which was forcibly released in a barely alpha state for some reason and promptly abandoned)
Unfortunately, we'll likely never get anything as good as CoH1 ever again. The new owners of the game are convinced that RTS games are a "Dead" genre, and that's why CoH2 was extremely mediocre and Dawn of War III was a MOBA, not a real strategy game, with a marketing campaign composed entirely of lies.
the game is from 2014 yet its still beautiful.
Because graphics hasn’t changed a lot from 2013-2014
Resupply will show an area of white as you pan right over the other Resupply area 🤣🤣
Well, definitelly ended on a bang.
Damn Imma download this game rn
Hi, I also have CtA: gates of hell- Ostfront and I would like to ask how you did that darkness you have your editor battle, because I only have missions in the camp and the mission of attacking the village and The Big Prize, no more . That's why I ask, if you could tell me how to make a battle like you.
For a game engine that old it looks pretty good
through the gates of hell
Thank You Raptor!
i swear this is just the MOWAS2 mod from ages ago of the same name, i remember diplex making videos on it
Great vid 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice
Looks good now if it could be modded like mow,as2 im all for it
I like the video but damn it i always get alittle mad at people like Raptor. You the perfect shot, and you FORGOT TO LOAD THE DAMN THING! Sorry, good video nonetheless
i hope this gets as big as mow 2 did at peak
It will be good enough even if they only solve the pathfinding problem in AS2.
There's actually a film about them titled 'Panfilovs 28 Men', search it up
Just like Company of hero’s
EPIC!
.... I may be wrong but I think you would have to put 4 men in the anti-tank cannons to be more effective against the tanks ... if I am not mistaken there is something like that.
Block the main road with the tractor
I'm playing Company Heroes Valor, and I feel its same vibes. 😊
Attach the Steam store (or other info pages) of the game
It's the same thing as men of war except now you have to harvest wood and build castles
