If a good and well principled lawyer has his way he has an option - if he thinks his client his guilty, either he doesnt take the case or if he does to fight for a more lenient sentence i.e. mitigate the guilt. A sensible comment I echo strongly. PS doesn't know what leadership is all about. He effectively admitted this himself by unwittingly saying all WP MPs are leaders in their own right and they should each take their individual ownership and responsibility. If we just zoom out from the current proceedings, truth is PS did not handle the whole episode well which culminated into the resignation of a WP MP, loss of time and resources due to COP investigation and loss of time and resources for the SPF. If he had just nipped the issue in the bud at the beginning, reinforced his stand to RK (instead of being so vague) to tell the truth after Aug, all this would not have happened. There were multiple forces at play here like RK's parents which PS I believe had to juggle as well.

It would have been great for the Oppositions and Singapore as a society.

If a good and well principled lawyer has his way he has an option - if he thinks his client his guilty, either he doesnt take the case or if he does to fight for a more lenient sentence i.e. mitigate the guilt. But never to defend him as innocent knowing he is guilty. Those lawyers who do so are those who are only interested in the hefty lawyer fee the guilty party is willing to pay.

A sensible comment I echo strongly. PS doesn't know what leadership is all about. If we just zoom out from the current proceedings, truth is PS did not handle the whole episode well which culminated into the resignation of a WP MP, loss of time and resources due to COP investigation and loss of time and resources for the SPF. If he had just nipped the issue in the bud at the beginning, reinforced his stand to RK (instead of being so vague) to tell the truth after Aug, all this would not have happened.
