  • To ensure we can continue powering Canada’s largest city safely and reliably for years to come, we’re developing our next five-year investment plan: for 2025 to 2029.
As the city continues to grow and more customers turn to electricity to power their homes, vehicles and businesses, Toronto Hydro has a critical role to play in expanding and enhancing the local grid so that customers can continue to plug in safely and reliably.

That's a long video to say "We expect that electricity usage will increase and we have a plan."

Toronto Hydro should offer EV owners free or discounted fee to upgrade to 200amp service to the meter. No one can even tell me what the fee will be just to have someone come out and figure out a rate to upgrade. I find their call centre for connections are not serious about customer safety. I asked two ladies from there if my service is 100 or 200amp. They said check the label on the meter. The label is just what the meter is rated for, not what is actually going to my meter. Then they both said if it says up to 200amp then I have 200 amp. Not believing them, i submit a request online instead, and the guy said it was only 100amp. I dont know who to believe, but to be on the safe side is to believe it's the lower figure. Imagine if someone believed what the reps said about it being 200amp and end up upgrading panels just to find out it's only 100amp. The cost to just get the electrician out with all the equipments. I don't understand why they can't tell me the fee to have someone do an estimate of upgrading to 200amp to the meter. The 2inch conduit to the meter is sufficient for 200amp cables too. Anyways, nice PR video.
