  • There is nothing like a legend telling their own story in their own words. This video is of Nebraska Tuskegee Airman Charles Lane, Jr. who spoke at a Tuskegee Airman documentary screening at the Love Jazz & Art Center in Omaha, Nebraska. There were 19 to 21 Tuskegee Airmen who were either from Nebraska or had ties to Nebraska. Unfortunately for us, the stories of most of these men are untold so I thank God that I have videos like these to share with the public.

To anyone and everyone responsible for this production, I want to say thank you. Charles A. Lane Jr. was my grandpa. He was a great man and he was humble. Growing up, we didn't speak much about his service. He was always more interested in what was going on in his children's and grand children's lives. He lived a life of service to his country and his community. It would always surprise me when people approached him in public and shake his hand. They would speak and I would hear, "Your squadron was the reason my daddy came home after the war. I can't thank you enough sir." I mean, to me, he was Grandpa but to others he was a hero. It wasn't until I was in my adulthood when I came to realize who everyone else saw. He was a protector, a guardian, and a fighter. He was an American hero and a good man.
I'll make sure the rest of the Lane Family will see your production. I want you to know that this will warm the hearts of every one of us.
    Thank you
