I’m a blue belt in bjj, and this is one of my favorite techniques. When you apply the shoulder pressure, it also blocks their vision of you opening your lapel. I like to mess with their gi by their knee to make them think I’m using it for control, then when they try to frame my neck to relieve some of the pressure, that’s the moment I feed the gi to my hand. Fantastic video.
As a black belt now I can usually hit this move on 95% of my training partners. By your description, I can tell you've got the most important parts down. There will be the tough partners that won't tap until you bring your knee behind their head for that extra special pressure😃
Yeah, I've hit this choke several times. I just keep moving. I use my hips or thigh to push their head into the choke. So instead of stopping parallel to them, I stop a bit canted. Very sneaky choke. Hit in a mock comp, too. The ref said he totally didn't see the set up and execution. Just saw me moving north south and then saw a tap.
I learnt this technique when I started Jiu Jitsu 5 years ago and is my favourite one that`s why when I go to the beach I always wear a tie because if something happens I use the tie instead of the lapel to choke my opponent.
I actually moved to a different country so I could be near a beach, so I could pick up surfing, so I could always go around with a rash guard all the time, because u never know, when you're gonna have to nogi some punk who tries to rob you. Always be ready
Yes we call it baby arm by using the partners lapel wrapping it around the arm that is under the chin. So that the arm is pinned and it looks like your partner has a baby are lol. While the arm is pinned you can also step over for the triangle.
@@kimble09 no you will hold your partner Lapel across his far side arm, with the hand that is under the head. That will pin the arm down. I wish I could show you a picture lol. This just traps the arm. You then can go into the choke roger is doing. With one more change trap the near side arm with your hip. Makes the choke tighter

I like how the thumbnail makes Roger look like he's looking lovingly at his father.
Thanks for the video, used this in class today; worked like a charm!
This is a solid technique and can be done w ease while having a high rate of success💪🤙
I like how Roger won’t stop until his dad taps 😂
Renzo has shown a variation of this with the head placement towards the opposite hip! Nice OSS!
I believe that is a good idea to prevent opponent turning into you

Is this a legal move in competition? Looks kinda dirty
You wear a tie for self defence purposes at the beach!? Where do you go to the beach, Guantanamo bay?
@@Blballerboy yes why not

@@smasher1234 so, you have your partners lapel with the same crossface grip that Roger has? Trapping the far arm (baby arm), and finishing the choke?

*☝️ the senior citizen looks very tired hmmm 🤔*
who's the red belt?
Red and white belt. Roger's father, master Mauricio Gomes.
Lol, of all people Roger is NOT a red belt; his dad is. I'm thinking Roger had a pure jiujitsu upbringing.
Coral belt
Is that guy OKAY?? 😮
How can u treat an old man like this. this is murder
Not so "basic" when he demonstrates it.
