I thought medulla is for BP regulation due to catecholamine

    • @nursestudynet8717

Hello, the primary purpose: The adrenal medulla, the inner part of an adrenal gland, controls hormones that initiate the flight or fight response. The main hormones secreted by the adrenal medulla include epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline), which have similar functions. (Source: John Hopkins Medicine); The adrenal medulla secretes catecholamines, hormones that help your body respond to stress. Catecholamines include adrenaline and noradrenaline, also known as epinephrine and norepinephrine. (Source: Cleveland Clinic) I hope this helps :)

"Aldosterone’s effect on sodium increase causes your body to retain water in your blood, which increases blood volume." Source: Cleveland Clinic.
      my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/24158-aldosterone
      Why Aldosterone is correct:
Aldosterone is a hormone secreted by the adrenal cortex (part of the adrenal glands) that promotes sodium reabsorption in the kidneys. When sodium is reabsorbed, water follows passively, leading to increased blood volume and blood pressure. Aldosterone works specifically on the distal tubules and collecting ducts of the nephron to regulate fluid balance and blood pressure.
      Why not Vasopressin (ADH)?
Vasopressin, also called antidiuretic hormone (ADH), is secreted by the posterior pituitary gland. ADH directly promotes water reabsorption in the kidneys by increasing the permeability of the collecting ducts. This leads to increased water retention and reduced urine output, which also contributes to increased blood pressure.
      Key Difference:
Aldosterone acts on sodium reabsorption, indirectly causing water reabsorption, and primarily works in the renal tubules.
ADH (Vasopressin) acts directly on water reabsorption in the collecting ducts by increasing their permeability to water.
In this specific question, the focus is on "hormone responsible for promoting water reabsorption and increasing blood pressure." While both hormones increase water reabsorption and blood pressure, Aldosterone is often the correct answer in contexts involving the adrenal glands or sodium balance. ADH is usually the answer when the focus is direct water reabsorption.

Neither FSH/LH because FSH stimulates the primary folical while LH comes after the egg has already been released...what LH does it luetenizes the remaining cells of the released egg which produces progesterone
