Bro I didn’t know if you were ready for this classic but obviously I was wrong, you nailed this one mate! It’s just a song about the symptoms of mental instability exasperated by the street life
Just reading all the comments now and it makes sense thinking back! Oh I loved it though my friend, the beat alone was crazy but just the lyrical vibe screams classic!
@@brainsqueezereactions I'd never heard this song even tho I was 22 when it came out & fully into all the great music coming out at that time. I did like a Ghetto Boyz song (I think?) that I heard from the movie "Office Space" called "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster" or at least that's what I thought it was called. That movie hooked me up with at least a few great songs. If you haven't watched it you should totally check it out. This is MY personal Interpretation. I remember this track when It came out back in the days. Each Member presents a personification of the mental anguish and exhaust of life as a gangster, including dealing with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, paranoia, suicidal ideation, and loneliness. Willie D - Suicidal ideation, post-traumatic stress disorder, loneliness Scarface - Paranoia, Bushwick Bill - Anxiety, PTSD, schizophrenia(seeing things and hitting ground thinking it was a certain mystical gangster) The Beat comes from Isaac Hayes's 'Hung Up on My Baby'
In my humble opinion one of the twenty five greatest songs in the history of hip hop storytelling at its peak...this song put geto boys on the map back in 91 (even thou grip it two years prior got 5 mics didn't have a song as big as this) RIP Bushwick bill and for the record scarface is the first and third verse Willie D second verse and bill last verse

Oh shiiiiit!! I am so excited to see this reaction! The moment I heard Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangster, rap was injected into my blood. Love my H-town boys!
@@brainsqueezereactions Yo. If you only knew what this album did for rap. 1. They weren’t signed with a major label. 2. They were from Houston….?? 3. Honestly, it’s just one of those books that, from the very first minute, you’re invested and it holds you to the very end. Check it out!
Yes!!!! The most articulate is most definitely Scarface, but Bushwick Bill's verse is definitely crazy! This is from the point of view of each member's issues with paranoia. My favorite part is "every day is more impossible to cope, I feel like I'm the on that's doing dope. Can't keep a steady hand because I'm nervous...every Sunday morning I'm in service, praying for forgiveness...." The beat is from Isaac Haye's "Hung Up On My Baby". Great reaction, man. This song is one of those that makes up the soundtrack to my life, man. I was just starting to be a little gang banger back in the day. Memories... Remember Pac's interview with Soren? He stated that those who rapped about the money and the lifestyle, but didn't rap about the death and the darkness wee being irresponsible. Can't say that about the Geto Boys!!! Classic hip hop!!!
The guy on the 2nd verse is Willie D. He now has a popular RUclips channel talking about current events. You should reach out and collaborate with him.

I ain't heard this track for years, this brings back memories damn... the beat is hot 🔥 sample is - issac hayes - hung up on my baby another old school track for the old folks, this track got hard lyrics especially at the end. this is for the people that are depressed, stressed, struggling and paranoid brothers. The last part punching the floor was fighting his demons but the devil got the better of him at the end because he ended up in hospital, yhats what I got from that last part. Good reaction bro love it 💯👍🏽
Great reaction video to one of the greatest rap groups which is written and performed by one of the greatest rappers ever! The history of "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" is this is actually a Scarface song. He wrote it about his own paranoia. Back then, he suffered from manic depression (for real) so this song represented what he felt at the time. Scarface wrote the whole song except for Willie D's verse. But it was released as a Geto Boys song. That's why Scarface has 2 verses (1st and 3rd) and Bushwick's verse was also written by Scarface but performed by Bushwick Bill. Nobody writes for Willie D except Willie so verse 3 was all him. The result is one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time - especially when played near or on Halloween. :)
Scarface , Willie D was 2 Rappers in Houston, Texas who was independent artists who made a little noise in the Hood. An ex street hustler turned businees Man named J Prince sought them out and told them he wanted them to join forces and become a Group. Bushwick Bill was a dancer and Willie D wrote a rap for him and told him to spit it. and then he became the 3rd member of the Group. Willie D and Bushwick never got along and always fought and argued . Bushwick recently died and never really patched things up. But they remained one of the most Iconic Rap Group of all times next to NWA with Cube and Dre. Add the Gheto Boyz songs to your list " I Tried " and "The Secret". The song is called Ever so Clear ruclips.net/video/VTn2fOAVHYM/видео.html
You have great energy! This is definetly a hiphop classic, top 20 in my opinion. The whole song is about the mental stress, depression and paranoia that can come from being a drug dealing gangster (hence discouraging it). In that life you constantly have to worry about dangerous rivals, enemies, and police all coming after you, you become paranoid, not knowing who to trust, you become suspicious of everyone around you, and worry that every stranger you see, every shadow, might be someone coming to kill you. The last verse is about having full blown hallucinations, the guy he thought he was beating up wasn't real, he was beating the concrete, his friends weren't really there, and it wasn't even close to Halloween, it was all his mind playing tricks on him. 😄 For some more light-hearted music from Scarface, check out "My Block".
Great reaction video again!! If you loved this you have to check out "The Resurrection" album by Get Boyz. The entire album is one of the greatest with some of the most epic story telling. The way they vividly brought their lyrics to life is just amazing! Thanks for the reaction. This one came out when I was in my early 20s. This is a sample from an Isaac Hayes tune. I forget the name of it right now. Scarface was a Geto Boy before he went solo.
Classics...the migdet was so talented ...when he said robbing kids I was like how ?! ..then I saw him I tolerate the line 🤣🤣🤣. He killed it...first time I saw it 99 that was funny and great ..Willie d verse was great too .but scarface ...always creepy and profound....
Nope never said that. What I do is a licenced pratitioner for human behaviours and linking with Stress and mental health. They are very similar, but have never called myself that as I respect the profession much more 🙌🙌🙌
Willie D did the 2nd verse, and Bushwick Bill the 4th and last verse. They comprised the Geto Boys out of Houston (H Town), TX. There were different members of the group when guys went solo. Big Mike was another member.
What I love about Scarface's verse is that he leaves room for artistic interpretation but obviously he is a man of conscious and his lifestyle is taking a toll on him mentally.
I see this is still your only Geto Boys one up to now Hector and they one hell of a group so here's another of theirs I think you'll dig...First Light Of The Day ruclips.net/video/SygSrGMSxME/видео.html&ab_channel=dnn1412
Last rapper was Bushwick Bill.. you think this was visual, check out his video Ever So Clear. It's the story of how he got shot in the eye, and he took the picture for this Geto Boys album cover while on the gurney.. he died a few years ago.
Me and my boys used to do a thing out of boredom where we would apply pressure to the neck and pass each other out. Basically we would be cutting off blood flow to the brain until passing out. That shit about beating on the concrete hits home. I did that while unconscious. I feel like Bushwick must have blacked out and experienced that subconscious violence that we are all capable of because that's exactly how it is
best reaction video🤣!! Here in Houston (Texas) we still bump this tune.

But my focus has been Thursday and its gonna be a whole host of different 2pac vids taking place!!!!
@@brainsqueezereactions I can't wait man 💪🙌🙏 I know you are going to make it real special ☺️
The Geto Boys got your mind playing tricks on you Hector. A real Brain Squeeze.
He killed it...first time I saw it 99 that was funny and great ..Willie d verse was great too .but scarface ...always creepy and profound....
didnt u say u were a psychologist? this was the perfect song for u to react to haha classic
Nope never said that. What I do is a licenced pratitioner for human behaviours and linking with Stress and mental health. They are very similar, but have never called myself that as I respect the profession much more 🙌🙌🙌
You need to check out Bushwick bill verse on Little big man and then go to Ever So clear
Willie D did the 2nd verse, and Bushwick Bill the 4th and last verse. They comprised the Geto Boys out of Houston (H Town), TX. There were different members of the group when guys went solo. Big Mike was another member.
Love your genuine enthusiasm for this song!
STARTING OFF RIGHT!!
The static sound and beat is the F’n Best!🎶🎧
Oh the beat is just crazzzzzzzzzzzy
It's the life they are living catching up to them!
Love love love this shit
They was rapping about the effects of being high!!
Yes exactly..this is happening to me now
Arrrgh hopefully less trippy then this vid!!!!
What I love about Scarface's verse is that he leaves room for artistic interpretation but obviously he is a man of conscious and his lifestyle is taking a toll on him mentally.
The sample is issac hayes hung up on my baby....to think issac hayes became chef from south park and is more known for chocolate salted balls lmao
😂
Ok my bad once again great content I grew up on this
Face experimented with drugs. He wrote the song . He was on the edge. He has a few interviews about this song and what he was thinking about
Awesome reaction, Hector.
BTW rip Bushwick bill.
I like the geto boys
I see this is still your only Geto Boys one up to now Hector and they one hell of a group so here's another of theirs I think you'll dig...First Light Of The Day ruclips.net/video/SygSrGMSxME/видео.html&ab_channel=dnn1412
Last rapper was Bushwick Bill.. you think this was visual, check out his video Ever So Clear. It's the story of how he got shot in the eye, and he took the picture for this Geto Boys album cover while on the gurney.. he died a few years ago.
Thats both cool and sad in one!
Grade 5 one of my first cassette tapes 🔥🔥🇨🇦
He see his self! They all do!
The devil doesn't have a face, he has everybody's face, that's why the devil looks like scarface
You know the album cover one of the members shot himself with the gun in the face so they had to take the hospital
No way! I did not know that
The first mental health rap track ?
Yesss!!!!
again......... them 90's
Me and my boys used to do a thing out of boredom where we would apply pressure to the neck and pass each other out. Basically we would be cutting off blood flow to the brain until passing out. That shit about beating on the concrete hits home. I did that while unconscious. I feel like Bushwick must have blacked out and experienced that subconscious violence that we are all capable of because that's exactly how it is
LOVE that old school beat!!!!! What have you done this week???? 🤯 I have like 20 videos on my watch list 😂🤣😳😲🤯🔥❤
Hahahah I did 13 in one day for pacs birthday! ....kept it as a surprise 😊😊😊😊🙌
This song is so amazing
The Intro verse on the album little big man
I WANNA SAY ITS HIS MIND PLAYING TRICKS ON HIM🤷🏻♀️ 🙃
And yeah scarface comes in on the intro
Dude you definitely got to react to The Geto Boys song "Assassin" that track is f****** crazy and it's a banger!!
