Great review. Many of the negative comments about the product are both stupid and patently false. Nissan (like Hyundai and Kia) have done their homework and actually listened to consumer preferences over time (e.g., ICEs, feature-rich content, modern cutting-edge design and notable warranty programs). American and German automakers should be looking over their shoulders.
Great first look video. I think you are correct in saying it will bring a lot of new buyers to the brand. Personally, I think first time buyers and empty nesters in particular are going to be drawn to it. Thanks Nissan for making the Sunroof part of an optional package and not too much piano black. I am not fan of either.
Likely a good idea to consolidate the Kicks and Qashqai/Rogue Sport offerings into the new Kicks. I see a lot of Kicks around here and some Qashqais (but not a lot, I think most move to the Rogue instead). I'm sure they will price it right and it will likely sell quite well as it looks to be well equipped. If I had to pick something I didn't like, I find the wheels on that SR trim seem a bit off. Not the design, but having a 19" low profile wheel on a vehicle like this seems kind of "boy racer" to me. I'm not sure what this new model has in the way of suspension set up, but if it has oversized wheels with low profile tires and a torsion beam rear suspension, it's likely not the best combination. I think a smaller wheel size with a meatier tire (larger side wall) would help smooth the ride out and maybe match the vehicle proportions a bit better.
