- 2023 was a year of firsts - the volunteer programme began, we started farming rice on larger pieces of land with a new source of water, and then we renovated a volunteer house and started Ryunohara Hatago. Join me in this review of 2023, and here's to 2024, the Year of the Dragon.

About Ryunohara: Ryunohara is a place for people to reconnect with nature through tea and rice planted with no fertilisers, herbicides, or pesticides. We are located deep in the mountains of Wakayama, Japan, in a village called Ryujinmura.
You can book a stay at Ryunohara Hatago, a 120-year-old farmhouse that has been restored with modern amenities, dine at the main house next door under a kayabuki thatched roof, prance around with the resident goats Deko, Honda, and Makita, and cuddle with our Ryujin chickens (some of only 300 left in the world). Book here: airbnb.com/h/R....
We also have a volunteer programme, where you can come stay for 3-4 weeks to work on And if you're interested in booking a stay here: forms.gle/QX1B...

I love following along on your homesteading efforts and sharing them. If I could ever get back to Japan or you wanted to bring in those of us who teach these skills, I would love to visit and teach...Blessings, j
Well done Lee, quite a year! Merry Christmas and Happy new Year. More power to your arm for the coming year. Blessings, Muffy from Oz. (Australia)

Have a happy new year, Lee.
I just discovered Ryunohara a couple days ago.
Such a productive year and great montage. Thanks for keeping up with the video uploads - can't wait to visit in April!
Happy New Year to you Lee. I have enjoyed the transformation of the old inn very much. Always busy there. so many lovely people to help out. Probably need to practice mochi pounding a little more 🤣 all the very best for 2024💚⛩
Yes! We’re practicing again on 7 January 😅 Thanks for the well wishes and a happy new year to you too!
amazing!
First, a very happy new year to you and huge congratulations for your incredible work and success for your guesthouse - it has been hugely inspiring to see how it all came together and in particular, the old techniques and craftsmanship that went into the renovations. I really look forward to seeing how your 2024 shapes up and your new guesthouse - I wish you all the best for that.
Whilst I understand your reasoning perfectly, it was a shame to hear that your cafe won’t be open to the public anymore. We are driving down from Nagano and will be staying not far from you in about a month (sadly, according to Airbnb, your guesthouse was not available for our dates) and really wanted to pop by in person and try your tea - ah well, never mind - we will have to come again :)
Happy new year! The cafe might be reopened for a limited amount of time this year due to popular demand; stay tuned for news about it!
I’ll certainly look out for the possible good news !
We are both from Singapore (me originally from UK), we will be 5 mins drive from your place - we say hi, can?
@@darrenmarshall7161 sure could you let me know when via email? lee@crafttabby.com
Oh no not the cafe 😔 that's the one thing I'd love to do, I love cooking n being in the kitchen, I was actually teaching myself to cook Japanese cuisine, by watching YT videos.
