Thank you Alberto - I love the fact that you explain the fundamentals and not just dive into "how to". This is really useful conceptual background. Thanks
Haven't seen DEFINE COLUMNS by ages.
Thank you
Thank you for sharing this. I wish you put chapter blocks in your video so we don’t have to go through the entire video to get to the information we need
Thank you for creating this video on how the visual calcs work!
Oh man, im going to get back to practicing Dax coding again to fully understand this. Great Video!
Thank you so Much Alberto. You are the BEST EVER. ❤❤
Very understandable and clear explanation, thank you 😊
Thanks a lot for your insightful sharing!😀
Wow 😮
A very nice first video on this new subject - it might also be worth highlighting this is currently in preview
The visual calculations feature is in preview, indeed. The DAX syntax is less likely to change at this stage, though! It could evolve and add elements to it, but the structure is probably consolidated now.
@@SQLBI - Thank you for confirming 👊

Great content, thanks Alberto!
question: if we remove the year column from the visual and replace it with e.g. date, will the visual calculation [growth %] be adjusted automatically to show the Δ% from the previous day?
Also, visual calcs generate values eveb for the combinations of values in rows/columns which donot exist in the model.
i just noticed it in new query generated across pbi.
Great to see a video on the same!
One question
Why is selectcolumns now a part of all generated queries?
Not necessarily - perhaps, if visual calculations are involved, it's more likely to be there.
Loving the beard Alberto!
Thank you Alberto. Love your videos and explanation. A question not related to the video: Can I know the model of your keyboard?
You can find it here: www.sqlbi.com/blog/alberto/2021/02/14/on-my-recording-gear/
Thanks for this video. Could this new feature be a big game-changer?
Game-changer is big by definition. We'll see, time will tell. But it helps for simple calculations, it's not going to help much for complex calculations you want to reuse in other reports.
Thanks for sharing it! Now, as a Brazilian guy, I want to know how to say it: i it "shall friends", "chao friends", "ciau friends"....?
Why has this functionality been added to this set of tools? Is this trying to adapt the SSAS modeling for ragged hierarchies and the views available in that old model structure into powerBI?
This is the internal implementation of the visual calculation in Power BI. And yes, it reminded us the hierarchical structure of Multidimensional!
Visual calculations look now like a minefield under a nice flowery meadow.
Accent stands nowhere in front of knowledge
