      I am definitely not classy enough for this meal. He deboned that fish and all I could think of was the Heathcliff theme song.

    Hey Max, did anyone there explain to you the cool story of those three reds you had together? First the fruit-forward Garnacha, then the peppery Monastrell, then the CdR which is a blend of Grenache/Garnacha, Mourvèdre/Monastrell, and Syrah. So getting the component pieces (and examples of how they do them in Spain), then the way the French combine them to balance their disparate features out. It’s that kind of story we tell with wine that makes it so amazing.
    Also you need to give more white wines more of a chance :) ... looks like you liked the Viognier, have you ever tried Riesling from Germany, or Pinot Gris from Alsace? Arneis from Piemonte Italy is wonderful as well!

      Love all of this!!! I'll have to take your recommendations on those whites!

      mrcheezypop if you try a German Riesling, be sure it’s dry. It will often have “Trocken” or “Spätlese” on the label / in the name. The Germans have this whole grading system for the dryness/sweetness in Riesling and those two are the driest levels. When you start getting in to Auslese and Beerenauslese you’re getting into dessert wine sweetness territory. Good luck and enjoy!

      Mallie Lang Rioja wine does not come from the Basque Country. It comes from La Rioja.

      Júlia Almada Yes, picsco is from Peru 🇵🇪 and they are very proud of this delicious alcohol. The grapes can only be grown in a certain soil which is found in Peru. The country of Chile also produces this product as years and years ago it was discovered that they also have the special soil.

    Max, besides the wine, churros are waiting for you in Spain. Churros originated there and were incorporated into Latin American cuisine.

    Does it seem “fancy” or is it casual? And with not a lot of wine knowledge is it intimidating there?

    • @mrcheezypop
      @mrcheezypop  5 лет назад +1

      It's still pretty casual, and if you don't have wine knowledge, that's no problem! There's wines on the menu for people of all wine knowledge! Ask your server for help and you'll be great!
