Now that is my kind of date! I think it has been over 40 years since I have had homemade clam chowder. (It's been 61 yrs since I have dug for clams). I love watching your channel! I can't wait to see more!
You need a clam pole for each of you to double your efforts! What a fun & successful outing! Everett was having a blast!! Your Clam Chowder looks delicious! 😋
Great video!! It was so cool 😎 to see the clam using its foot to get under the sand. I laughed when you said when you see brown flush it down. The clam chowder looked delicious 😋
I like your photography and the content of your channel. You will become famous and your number of followers will increase. I posted your channel to my friends in Saudi Arabia so they can follow you

So much fun to see how you all work together as a family, digging clams & having fun. It is amazing to see how you can gather, harvest, hunt & fish for all these fabulous eats. So incredibly healthy. Very fun to watch.. Sending love from Minnesota. 🐰🦀🦞🦐🦑🐳🐬🐟🐠🐡🐋🦭🦦
WOW! oh my gosh what an amazing trip! Thank you for sharing- love the beauty of the scenery! I've never been clamming before but this looks like a lot of fun!!
A whole lotta fun watching your adventure, and beginning to end clamming how-to. Oh, and the whole Alaska thing. My dream is to move back within a few years. Really enjoy both your channels. Thanks for taking the time.
How awesome was this? I would have never dreamed that's how you looked for clams, I loved it! Holy moly, it is a lot of work through to the finished product, but...YUM!!! Thanks for such a great adventure, Mark!!! 🌼
One of my favorite RUclips channel's Wildwood Off Grid Alaska just mentioned you in their last video. I didn't realize you had a separate RUclips account. I'll have to check you out later today maybe.
I LOVE your channel!!! That day looked like so much fun. Again, I learned so much. I eat clam chowder but never knew how to actually catch them. You definitely are an asset to the State of Alaska as you highlight the amazing things there are to do there. I’m adding visiting to my bucket list. Loved watching Lauren getting involved too…perfect day spent with her husband in my opinion. Thank you Mark and Lauren for bringing us along! Love to you all xxx
Yep, it’s a physically demanding process to get those clams from the beach to the table. I think they have some commercial tools like sprayers and tractors to make it a bit easier on a commercial basis, but still a lot of work.
The big tide was the same weekend as Valdez this year, and I'll be out of state for the June tide, but hopefully I can get out there in July. We should put our 170s together for a picture sometime.
The Alaska Boys really know how to take a girl on the best dates. From the plane ride, Landscape, the landing, the Sand Angels, the digging, the joy of finding a clam, watching Lauren whisper to the Clams, Everett helping Dad, eating oreos, to seeing the marvelous Clam do its life, the preparation, the Thanksgiving prayer, the feast of the clam bounty, the love of sweet Family, the preservation, the love of a wife and Mother, to officially, BEST DATE EVER!!! I couldn't ask for a better way to start my Saturday. Mark you are so witty, funny, an awesome teacher, and so generous. This channel rocks. Can't wait, can't wait for the next adventure. Hi to Laurens Dad. Maybe next time he could go. No more imitation crab. You fixed that problem.
Best date ever lasts until 1:37AM 😉. That looked like so much fun and the reward absolutely scrumptious 😋. The views from the Airplane never get old something different to see each and every season in Alaska. Thanks so much for sharing your date with us and Everett 🥰
When we took off it was spring near the house, but flying down that way they seem to get a bunch more snow and was surprised how much was still on the ground. The never ending date lol 😂
just finished the Costco haul & the newest foam video..I swear I thought I was subbed to this channel too but wasn't! oh & I filled out the form you had on the community tab on the other channel..great video! never knew so much went into it. my husband make linguine and clams in a white sauce but we cheat & used canned. fresh would be amazing! 1lb of linguine 1 tablespoon of olive oil 4 cloves of garlic minced 1/4 cup clam juice 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped 2-(6.5 oz of clams) 1/2 stick of butter 2 cups chicken brother 1/4 cup red pepper flakes(optional) salt & pepper to taste **bring pasta to an al dente consistency in separate pan add in clams & ingredients (no pasta yet) to a low boil abt 3-5 min..add in half stick butter...then add linguine til heated up..enjoy!
I wonder if the way we dig our Uk razor clams works? (different species) but we put table salt on the hole wait a minute they come up and we grab em! i have no idea if that would work with your clams ofc!
@@AlaskaBoys as I said different species but I would be very curious to see if it would work? Here's an example ruclips.net/video/3tLY7eJM7ZA/видео.html
15 is the limit here in Washington state but they let us get 20 for a limited time this season and they are yummy! I clean them a little different , bread and deep fried!
Wow what a cool excursion. The market price today here $25 LB. Just curious after you calculate the expense of adventure, I would think you still come under that price. Really cool fun & informative video I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it. Ty
I’m not sure, we probably had 40 lbs of cans by the end, but not sure what that translates into raw clam meat. Prob 15-20 lbs of clam meat? We saw a few commercial clam diggers as we flew in, they had a boat supporting them so they didn’t have to carry the heavy loads up the beach.

There are quite a few resources online for canning, and we use a booklet that came with our canner. The local USDA cooperative extension center has info for safe canning of local AK food. Good luck and keep trying.
A good Christian family living off Gods bounty what could be better, and canning for further usage !

So glad you enjoyed it Marcella. It was a really fun day, lots of hard work, but always a fun experience.
I recognize that island i was there a year ago but we missed the tide with the boat and got stuck on a sand bar 1000 yards from the beach
Oh no! So no clams for you guys on that trip?
What a awesome day! I would love doing dates like that also💕
It’s good stuff.
So interesting!! I love clam chowder! Didn’t have a clue to all the work it takes in preparing the clams. Thanks for sharing.
Opening a can of clams from the store is SO much easier than what we did… 😂, but it’s all about the experience.
Love your video ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you!!

Very interesting, I’ve never heard of anyone doing anything other than digging them out in ALaska. Either with a shovel or clam gun.

How come when you travelled in the plane, there were 2 kids and when you returned there was only 1 kid, where did the girl went?
We were there with our friends who flew in another plane.
How do you humanly dispatch the clams?
Dip them in boiling water and then cut them up right away. You can see it in the video.
👍👏💕
Alaskans don't tan. They RUST! This is one of my all time favorite activities in Alaska!
It was cute that he started soaking up the sun. It was a long winter, so even at 4, we are all ready when the warmth comes back.
If it’s brown flush it down 😂😂😂
Just calling it as we see it. 😂
