- Steelheart released their self-titled debut album in 1990. It sold 33,000 albums on its first day in Japan alone, and quickly hit platinum status. The ballad "She's Gone" which showcased Matijevic's wide vocal range hit #1 on the International Charts, staying there for 17 weeks.The ballad maintains its popularity in East Asian region until today. It has been played by most of the cover bands those performing in the nightclubs in this region almost every night.
The second single "I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes)" reached #14 on the billboard charts, and was MTV's 2nd most requested video.The album reached #40 on the billboard charts. "Everybody Loves Eileen" and its accompanying video also garnered much success.

Steelheart was the band name. . Sadly miljenko met an accident during one of his gigs.. the music equipments on stage fell on his back of the head .. which cause broken nose , jaw and twisted spine.. now he's only doing small gigs within his country regions only
It's a damn shame that most people have never heard of him......if I hadn't traced down the real voice behind "Rock Star," I'd probably never knew who he was. Miljenko, you are the shit!!!

Im bulgarian naturalized american. Im entranced since I first heard him and steelhearts music 5 days ago. Philipino dude sung this song the Voice of Bulgaria and it brought me to Steelheart. The rest is history. I'm 48, I'm a woman and nerd who never listened to this sort of music before. Not as a die hard fan. Damn, voice, persinality, overall presence. Miljenko is my favorite singer now. God bless the Philipino dude. My brother thinks ive lost it. No I just found a whole new world and best way to unwind after hard day at work doing Echos. Thank God this man exists

One of the most beautiful voices in the history of music and only a few people had the chance to listen him. 20 years ago Miljenko became my favorite singer. Unfortunately after the accident during the concert, I feel that he has lost something in his voice that made him unique, but still today, hearing his vocal melody (thats is still very strong and good), is a great joy for me. I'll love this perfect voice forever.

@@gulfportgyrl8798 there is a video on RUclips, however: While the band was playing the song "Dancing in the Fire", Matijevic decided to climb a lighthouse that had been badly fixed. The singer tried to stare at the lighthouse, but, once he got off the tower weighing about 450 kilos, it fell on Matijevic from behind. The turret hit him violently on the back of the head, causing him to fall, hitting his face to the ground and causing him to break his nose, cheekbones, jaw and injuring his spine.
Matijevic miraculously found the strength to stand up in front of 13,000 people and exit the stage, being immediately hospitalized with 28 stitches behind the head. After this tragic event, which caused serious problems to the frontman for some time, the band, unable to continue their career, broke up in 1992.
It was only once he got home that the real suffering began for the frontman. For months the pain was so excruciating that minimal head movements were enough to cause exasperating pain. In addition, the accident also caused him to lose a good part of his memory. After two years Michael met a neurophysiologist who explained that he had undergone a "TBI", Traumatic Brain Injury. It took another two years to concentrate, focus and reprogram his mind. During this bad period Matjevic was never reimbursed or given any financial compensation.

No, check out his live shows during 96 in Korea. His voice was just as impressive. Then, well, he got older. When he's on, he's still impressive nowadays. In 21 sang I'll never let you go at Columbia and was jaw dropping. Not as good as in his 20s but, duh. That's like complaining that Pamela Anderson is no longer as hot as in Baywatch. 🤣

Back in the day, Steelheart was definitely part of my music arsenal. (We're talking cassette tapes here.😉) Miljenko's vocal talents were and still are untouchable. The man is a vocal god.
