  • Colour washes are a great way to create layers of colour, providing a subtle multi-toned effect. When layered over a metallic base, the final effect can be quite magical. Today we take a simple resin rooster and turn him into something more majestic.
Although I am using this technique on a figurine, bear in mind that you can use this same process on anything from furniture to candlesticks. Changing out the colours of the washes used will give you a different look entirely so go into the process with a sense of play! You can change directions at any point by simple switching out the colours of the washes so don't hesitate to give different colours a try... it's just paint!

Love our creations! I watched an older video where you made stuffed Christmas trees (with your precious granddaughter - she's a hoot!!). Question....what size is the miter saw you used to cut spindles? Can you advise the brand and where you purchased it? I'm having trouble cutting small items with my large miter saw and I'm looking for something more practical. Thank you!!!

Hey there!! Ellie is definitely a hoot... almost 9 going on 40 now! The saw I used is back at the house right now (we're redoing floors) but it was an older saw from a friend's dad when he passed. I have a table top Ryobi scroll saw that I use here when I don't have access to the big saw or when I just need a few cuts. It's no hand held so the blade doesn't move, you move the wood... so it allows me to get straight or curved cuts.
