The Marvel’s Avengers teaser was so incredibly epic and then they still have managed to poop their pants. I don’t think any amount of updates save for a complete overhaul will fix the boringness of the game. I was so hyped too
everyone wants to be Square with FFxiv, but Square and Yoshida genuinely meant it, now devs just use FFxiv as an excuse to make a bad game, and then go hey look they did it we can too. It's bad for players, embarrassing for the devs, and rude to Yoshida and his team.
Yeah, I remember the devs literally crying while they apologized on stream. It wasn't just a job, it was the pride of their company and their flagship IP. People forgot that Realm Reborn wasn't an normal, ideal situation, but a desperate attempt to fix a disastrous situation, which was successful only because Square had full control over the project and offered pretty much no budget limit. The lesson to publishers was to NEVER arrive at that point, but instead people got the idea that they can release a product way earlier and just fix it after release. It didn't help that a lot of users believe in these "redemption arcs" and support them, but even them are losing faith nowadays, and are a lot less forgiving.
To be fair what on earth were CI Games thinking organising a military training afternoon for people as sensitive as games journalists?! It was clearly something that was going to blow up in their faces.
Yeah, they should have invited "I'm not racist, but..." internet trolls instead. The guys who cheered when Trump said he believed killing the families of terrorists was a great idea, while he made a deal with the Taliban.

Cyberpunk's development cycle was closer to 4 years - it didn't really start until after the two expansions for The Witcher 3 were released. They also wasted a lot of time on that E3 presentation which was a large proof-of-concept that was unconnected from the game they were actually making, which didn't help matters. The game as released is fine, but it completely failed to live up to expectations.
Communities can indeed be toxic but it is not an equal point as they don't have any professional obligation to be civilised. All the community did was prove their lack of morality, which is completely unacceptable, of course. The developers not only ditched morality, but also completely abandoned their professional responsibility to their paying customers as well as the company they represent. There are higher expectations of a person within a professional capacity and they should be held to a higher standard than that of a spoiled, immature and obscene mob.

Insomniac started working on the Spider-Man game before Sony bought them but it’s also came to light that Microsoft was approached first and turned it down so Xbox sucks in that regard lol
Until Uncharted, Spiderman or God of War are available on Xbox or PC then Playstation fans can shut the hell up about a Microsoft owned studio not being on Playstation.

The "freeloaders" are indeed the vast vast VAST majority of the players in free to play games and I, having played many of those games and been active in their online communities, know that they are the first ones to whine and cry about every little thing. They have the audacity to do so while never ever spending 1 single dollar in the game "they love". I can see the Apex Legends devs frustation about that.

Deadly Premonition 2 was so so disappointing with the transphobia. I was looking forward to it so much but it’s too much to ask for people like you be treated like a humans in fiction. It was an active choice to do that. They didn’t hire on a consultant unlike their previous game with a trans character and it showed.
