But Dedede isn't a villain anymore. He had the villain role of doofenshmirtz / mind controlled / grudge match at most. Other than that, he's mostly friendly / friendly competition / helps save the world.
Nowadays, Dedede has retired from the full time Villain role, and decided it's better to deal with extradimensional threats than to fight Kirby seriously. He gets rekt a lot less, because of that wise decision.

Okay you know what, with the introduction of Forgotten Land and the Sword of the Surviving Guardian music, I might just have to rescind this statement. Kirby music in general is just exquisite.
People underestimate how op Dedede really is, seeing him as just a goofy antagonist. He deadass one v ones a being who has destroyed self proclaimed deities and inter dimensional destroyers, WITHOUT power ups to help him combat Kirby. King Dedede designed and built the masked Dedede hammer himself because his army was gone when that fight began. King Dedede is that kind of strong and smart that doesn't show because of his comical personality. Dude also has a massive army of op individuals. I'd say he's an absolute menace and all the while he still has a sense of honor because he ONE V ONES Kirby majority of the time rather than uses his army to assist mid fight
