What Mick Taylor did with the Stones at these live shows is equivalent to anything practical Jimi, SRV and Clapton did. Maybe he didnt play anything gimmicky like playing behind his back or with this teeth but just closing your eyes and listening he's right up there with the best of them
What makes Mick Taylor a class of his own is that he plays like a flow. Passing through stops that one expects because others play them, but streams them out with a flurry of notes to then do an unexpected stop or bend or vibrato or slide into the next octave. And some such things that give his play an iconic form clearly distinguishable from the play of others (like the ones that you mentioned).

See the first couple of comments if you're lost. If you didn't grow up in the 70's then, unfortunately, you may be lost forever.
+Cale Roy Wusere You are right. When you listen to the sound starting in 69 and then listen to the different sound, the change thru 73 it is amazing. In 69 the sound was more bluesy and by 73 the tone became raw. From 69-73 they were the best.

Mick is a blues and jazz player. Hendrix was a freaked out pschodelic player who did some blues. I never liked Jimi and yes he did influence many players but Taylor wasn't one of them. I always liked Clapton and Beck much more than most of the others. Many including B.B.King and Muddy say that Eric was the best blues player. And Jeff had a style all his own who played some of the nastiest licks ever recorded. I am probably in the minority but Beck, Clapton and Taylor were so much better than Hendrix!

Mick Taylor's recently discovered & unreleased solo's would've taken the stones away from their blues & rock roots & into the progressive genre. Apart from Taylors virtuoso performances overshadowing Keith master riffs! I think that's mostly why he was not made a full member of the Stones until he got sick of it & left. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to meet Mick Taylor in Minneapolis many years ago. My brother and I were at a bar and he was playing with his band at the time. During a break he came over to our table and just talked for about 15 min. He was so down to earth and easy going. He played Little Red Rooster and some other early Stones stuff. It is a great memory.

I saw them in Gothenburg on Goats head soup tour in 73. At 14 this was one of my first live shows. Remember how Taylor’s guitar playing just lifted me sky high. Jagger was of course the centre of attention but that guitar behind him. Especially on this song. That melodic drive!!
why doesn't Ronnie get more love I hate people comparing him to Mick Taylor hes just as good and more entertaining than Taylor apples and oranges people
I was complimenting on how brilliant he was playing the song. Meaning this was my favorite piece of work by him. I know he has done way much more than this, the stones lost a great masterpiece when he left them.
There is something truly unique about his [and the bands] performance on this piece. It's like walking into a bar one night and having the local band have that one perfect performance that you know they'll never repeat. It's raw like that .. it's perfect like that. Performances like that are rare.
This has always been my favorite version of Heartbreaker. I wish they would have put it on the Goats Head Soup Deluxe Edition. The one that is on it is very good, but this is better!!

Mick sprayed those close enough to stage ( I was 1 of 'em) :) with a water hose. HOT. Best Show ever 4 me. Can never forget. Memories.

KICKASS,best ever..Mick T is the BEST
Omg I love this more than the studio version
I have blown the tweeter in my left main twice on this one. MT's best work is here imho.
Kinda agreeing with you. But Brussels, etc.
boweryhester. - I am💕 GUESSING, U R A MALE.{Attracted to THE Higher. NATURALLY, SPEAKING...!
...US FEMS, - WE BLOW OUT THE WOOFER/BASS/LOW TONES (if Possible -Lol! {MALE TONES....!} )💜
Slays the studio cut.
One day, it’ll all come out.
73 was best ever stones
*Only live Heartbreaker recording with Mick Taylor. Apparently London Sept. 9. Thanks 4 posting.*
No, there's also the very similar version played in Brussels on the same tour.
Fantastic Mick Taylor on the guitar...
The Mick Taylor years have always been my favorite Stones years starting with 'Get Yer Yah Yah's Out'. The full hour version of 100 years Ago SO should've been part of a double Goat's Head Soup' album!
That guitar.........completely stunning......Mick Taylor
I saw them in Gothenburg on Goats head soup tour in 73. At 14 this was one of my first live shows. Remember how Taylor’s guitar playing just lifted me sky high. Jagger was of course the centre of attention but that guitar behind him. Especially on this song. That melodic drive!!
Such a GRITTY~RAW sound; haven’t heard this in years and had forgotten.
This is the Stones we love!!!!
Choo~
Do~Do~Do~Do~Do~Dooo🎵💃
😻
Mick Taylor, best guitar the Stones ever had...
Tell me what Mick Taylor would play if Keith Richards wasn't here to compose these songs?

Stones gold era with Mick Taylor
That gorgeous blond hair angel Mick Taylor !!!!!!
Wow, Mick Taylor handled the solo. Amazing
Ladies and gentlemen..
The Rolling Stones.
Happy birthday Mick.
Wishing you many, many more. ❤💐🎂🥂
The early 70's were the Stones at their zenith. Tighter live and of course having Mick Taylor on lead.
How Mick Taylor makes diatonic eighth note triplets sound so fucking cool.
thanks jaggermorrison2010, the stones at the top, a wonderful performance...
Taylor definitely one of the best guitarists of this era
I saw them on this tour in Dusseldorf, Germany and they were incredible.
The audio is Heartbreaker but the video is another song. Nothing is in snyc.
Among the best ever Rolling Stones songs. Strange that over the years, seems forgotten...
Mick was the dude! such a crazy good guitarist! never as good as when he was with them! I miss him!
best version raw and fucking rocks
Wow what an amazing show, mick Taylor just tremendous, watts awsome, u can really hear the amazing base of bill Wyman.
why doesn't Ronnie get more love I hate people comparing him to Mick Taylor hes just as good and more entertaining than Taylor apples and oranges people
I like this version better than the other show it's tighter and clearer awesome!!!
The best version of the best song that will be acknowledged and enjoyed 100 years ago
Those were the days, you didn't know what was going to happen next, but still I loved the vibes of the bands influence on people
Wyman was and always be irreplaceable.
He kills it on this live performance. Such an integral part of their live sound that has and always will be sorely missed.
This was Mick Taylor's finest 5 minutes of his life.
Hardly, lol. He's done soooo much more. Watch him with Dylan on the 84 tour , or in the 90's fronting his own band.
I agree.
Yes asaloutley it was .
Great, great, great.
Did I say great?
MT and that guitar take me away...
Обалдеть!... Эта концертная запись фантастическая!...
Мик Тейлор - глыба среди камней.
Невероятная была группа в те годы.
Da))
Mick Taylor is poetry in Music Always
My favorite Stones piece. Nothing better than this live version of Heartbreaker
This has always been my favorite version of Heartbreaker. I wish they would have put it on the Goats Head Soup Deluxe Edition. The one that is on it is very good, but this is better!!
Yeah I’ve always thought that this Sept 9th performance has the edge over Brussels.
Sounds GREAT! Love song! Undisputed World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band at this time. No doubt. 3 yrs. prior, arguable. Imo only. :) There was another little R n R Band that split at that time. Only others able to lay claim to it. Imo. lol That was then. 73, STONES! Saw them in Memphis July 4,1975 outdoors at Liberty Bowl. 50,000 plus. packed! Bicentennial Year. Mick sprayed those close enough to stage ( I was 1 of 'em) :) with a water hose. HOT. Best Show ever 4 me. Can never forget. Memories.
Remember ordering a bootleg of this concert thru the mail back in the late 70's
So perfect performance !
Awesome song! Of course with Mick Taylor in the lead guitar!!
Hot fucking performance Thanks! Some pretty funky shit by Keith.
Keith is indeed funky as shit. Mick Taylor is great but definitely not funky! Hot Stuff, fingerprint File :-)
Keith has said he wasnt happy taylor quit at this point as they were getting so damn good it was unfortunate i would have loved to see goats head and its only r'nr live with him playing
