      Thanks! I couldn't believe it didn't actually mess up the winding!

    Great video, can you tell us what winding machine are you using?

      I don't know the exact model, but if you type cnc coil winder on ebay it will.pop up. There are many variations but all are the basically the same thing.

    Thanks for sharing. Have you measured how much the capacitance increases with the laquer? I guess sbout 2x? Btw old refridgerators have great vacuum pumps if youd like to try that.

      Thanks! I haven't measured the capacitance at all, it sounds perfect in the preamp so I didn't even bother, but I will do it just to see what the numbers show. But, from what I know the lacquer shouldn't make a difference in capacitance since it doesn't move the wires, it just fills in the blank space and keeps everything in place. Where did you hear, read about that?

      @@Delatsch Hello thnx for answer. I have only done a few inductor windings, not had the patience to try transformer yet...
      Anything has higher dielectric constant ('relative permittivity' today) than nothing (air and vacuum) so the capacitance must go up. But it is not an issue here b/c that is only an issue with high impedance circuits. But I think laquer and oil have k of about 4. The capacitance will increase by a factor of the square root of the k, so in this case should be about 2x compared to if not impregnated. But if you do not vacuum the enclosure where you sink the transformer into the liquid, it will not fully soak everything, and you end up somewhere in the middle.
      Anyways it is just a note and of no importance. I also prefer having teh windings soaked to prevent microphonics which is way worse than any capacitive effects.
      Keep winding, perhaps I will eventually get inspired to do my own, or bug you to make me a couple...

    What laquer (?) you use at 7:30? Thank you

    • @Delatsch
      @Delatsch  9 месяцев назад

      It is a transformer/motor enamel called Royal C. There are many different ones, whatever you find for motor/transformer varnish, lacquer etc. will work. The most important thing is to find something that doesn't require heat, so that you can just pot it and let it dry. Some dry faster, some take longer to dry.

    I have a 100year old power transformer from a Scott Allwave 12 radio.
    The primary is shorted.
    Can you recommend a service which would rewind the unit for me?
    Would you?
