Thank you for this really interesting video! However, in my opinion the last point will never happen. The time of acquisition of a picture depends on the luminosity. It's more about the number of photons coming to the sensor than a computational time

Reviewer : "Future will have better battery back up"
OEMs : "Let's cut down battery space and add something gimmicky like x-ray to make it more spacial aware"
that's so true lmao
That’s probably what will happen to, “we made the battery about smaller as it’s solid state and doesn’t use as much energy of the typical li-ion battery”...thus making it better but by a margin
And not adding headphone jack
Lol. Could not be truer. Longer lasting and more durable smartphones mean less money for OEMs. Which is why you have the ridiculous fast charging, smaller bezels, all glass designs, and slim bodies for flagships. They may look 'cool', but aren't necessarily practical, as they are designed to fail. You are spending a grand on a device which is a ticking time bomb.

6:20 I feel as though this is wrong. You simply do not get enough light hitting the sensors in a short amount of time to see all the stars in the sky. The entirety of the astrophotography process is based on long exposure, you can't leverage processing power on data that isn't there.
Yeah he makes it sound as if it was a matter of computing power, while in reality is a matter of signal to noise ratio on the sensor. It really sounds like he does not understand the basics of the subject he tries to explain.
went straight to the comment section to check. surprised less people are noticing this :D
Your comment deserves to have the most likes on this video.
You have it right 100%. The tiny amount of light that those incredibly dim stars are putting off is what requires the shutter/sensor to be able to stare and capture for 3-15 minutes (or longer). Until Camera sensors are further developed to be ultra sensitive, (and even then I doubt they'll get to the point of being able to take an Astrophotography picture instantly), they may be able to reduce capture time to 30-60 seconds instead, but that's a good amount of time in the future for sure.
@@quentinwolf The camera sensor can reach theoretical 100% sensitivity and still not see them clearly. The stars simply do not emit enough photons to make a good image in seconds with sensors small enough to be practical in a phone.

Don't be fooled by Google, "centralized" . And "future" do not belong on the same sentence.
"Sorry, Stadia wasn't successful we're shutting it down in 3 months!"
Precisely. The cloud is meant to be just that: a cloud. A decentralized network of diverse devices. We won't need those big centralized data centers when bandwidth is plentiful across the globe and hardware is faster, cheaper, more efficient, and more robust.
End users can become administrators of their own custom systems. Corporations will have to fight for ever smaller niches; providing savvy consumers with reliable, affordable components for those systems. As more hardware and software become open source, corporations will lose even those strongholds. It is only a matter of time before basic manufacturing is completely decentralized. Only high end computer component manufacturers may hold out past that.

6:03 night mode doesn't work by laying multiple photos on top og each other!
- it works by taking a longer photo, to absorb more photons.
If you want to take better photos at night, you need a longer shooting time or a bigger lens, or just to put in some more photons by a flash or a lamp :)
Add: its the same problem with slowmotion, where the faster the photos are taken, the more dark they will be.
When talking about normal cameras or dslrs this is correct, iso and exposure can be modified to absorb more light, but with the pixel 3s introduction lots of phones started using night modes that stack multiple photos taken at slightly different focus points, and "correcting them" based off how bright it should be.

Aron:lithium ion batteries have a lifespan of 2-3 years
Me with my 4 year old samsung galaxy s6: Huh
Yeah, he's spouting quite a bit of bollocks in this video.
I have JUST upgraded from an original Galaxy Note. I had the phone for over seven years. Used it hard. It had only just started to become noticeable.
I realise this may be a somewhat extreme example. But I don't think four or five years is ridiculous. Unless of course you are a poor sap still being had over by Apple. Like my bloody Daughter. She has had every bloody Iphone, and probably more than one of some models. Iphones tend to break easily, and often come broken from new, or ready to break in short order. Audio IC's popping off the fucking board would be deemed a problem by any other manufacturer. Apple simply blames the customer.
That's not the only thing he got wrong. he showed an ROG phone and said that it's cooling system wouldn't be as necessary. does he not know that ANY phones cooling system is not for the battery but for the damn CPU? He's a moron. he's spouting more bolox then anyone that should every spread a damn word. OH and he said that stadia will revolutionize mobile gaming, hell no. that's not going to happen, it will never happen and if he thinks that it will happen he has never played a video game in his life. Latency is a thing and the best way to make latency not a thing is to have most if not all processing client side. this makes it extremely important for the client hardware to be powerful, not to mention it offloads the cost of the client system onto the consumer not the service provider. Now the gaming industry desperately wants Stadia because of DRM, you can't pirate their game if you can't get access to the code. fucking morons, you don't make a sale if people can't afford to play your game in the first place. your just going to suffer more from people that wouldn't have bought your game in the first place not having the ability to play or try out the game out and eventually MAYBE turn that into a sale.
I believe he meant the "high quality" of lithi ion batteries only last 2-3 years and after that it starts to degrade.
@@rationalmartian I don't know about you, but I had an old s6 that sat around for a few years. I recently needed a new phone because my phone broke. I only had the s6, and it could barely hold charge for an hour.
My samsung corby from 2010 (that got retired for a few years before going to grandma) never needed its battery replaced until last year.
That being said, the standard for a battery needing replacement is if it can hold 80% of it's rated charge. So it can work perfectly and hold 75% of the change but still be considered "needs replacement".
0:19 Not true: as shown in Xiaomi’s video, the camera has transparent pixels sitting on top of it. When it’s not used, the pixels will light up as normal, but when used, those pixels will act like a regular notch, becoming invisible and thus showing the camera. If it actually were in the middle of the screen, a cutout would appear exactly where the subject would be. Cameras will still be at the top of the screen for the time being.
Yeah, it feels really wrong when he mentions that. It is not possible to have a light up pixels and with camera behind it. Even if it can work, the images will be really poor as the sensor will catch lights from the display as well. Besides, at some angles, I believe you can still see the camera behind as it is transparent cutout. Having that in the middle will be distracting for sure.
If this is possible in near future, Microsoft won't be making the eye gaze feature.
How could you reasonably expect him to know that after ten minutes on the verge website doing his research for the video?
@@emyrmorgan1363 That sounds janky and unnecessary. It would probably cause more problems that it's worth.
@@emyrmorgan1363 Think about what you are suggesting. You want higher prices, lower battery life, worse camera performance, and likely janky functionality in exchange for slightly more convenient camera placement. I'll take a notch any day.

2:47 and 3:16
You got the terminals wrong. The positive one is the anode while the negative one is the cathode
They are right. The anode oxidizes loosing electrons which travel to the cathode through a conductor. Electrons flow between terminals from negative to positive. So the anode is negative and the cathode positive.
At Anode oxidation, at cathode reduction
2:59 Dendrites in a battery dont just make it harder for ions to flow and reduce battery capacity. They can grow to short the anode and cathode, causing a high internal current and heat, which can result in a fire or explosion. This is why cell life monitoring is important, at least in some applications.
The hurdle with solid state batteries (at least some of them) is that charging and discharging the battery causes the "solid" used to expand and contract, which can lead to it cracking. So not only the solid might be unflammable, this mode of failure should/could result in an open circuit.
I don't know what is your meaning I don't understand
I don't fully comprehend what you said but Y E S.
0:22 It works with turning off the pixels so that the screen gets tansparent. So it wouldend work with the middle of the phone. only if there was a "noch nockh i dont know how to write this" of the pixels go off in the middle of the screen
Reasonable sound for camera but also you won't think about the camera when ur phone is hacked..which means more security updates etc..
