#PinkFloydFriday #PinkFloyd #Live #1971 #AtomHeartMother
I was lucky enough to experience Pink Floyd perform this live with brass and choir at the Colston Hall Bristol UK Dec.1971. It was fantastic. I love Atom Heart Mother. I was 16 years old. Pink Floyd helped me to learn how to be with sound and to use it to enter into inner/cosmic space. I have listened to their music since 1966/67. Their music never sounds the same no matter how often I listen. It is always moving- spacious- transformative. I listen to period from 67 -75. Mostly Ummagumma to Meddle. It was a period of formation and deep learning for me. I thank them deeply and feel grateful to have been here at the same time as them with all the music and creative performance they gave us all.
To quote Monty Python " You lucky bastard". I've seen Dave and Roger's solo tours twice, but I don't think that they could hope to compare to anything from that time period. All I have is this channel and bootleg recordings unless I can get my hands on a time machine.
I feel the same things about Pink Floyd.
Lucky you!
Can you imagine what causes Pink Floyd to a young guy around 1980 in East Germany? It was the perfekt medium to enter into inner/cosmic space. It was transformative. For me the preparation for the revulution 1989. Such music is now neccessary for the russian zombies which kill and bomb whithout any thinking in Ukraine.
@👍👍👍1
The worst thing about Pink Floyd songs is that they end...
they do not
This..could have been the whole album, easily.
They existed Just enjoy them, are uniquies
Is that they are too long
I just keep playing this album over and over 👍🏻
Saw Pink Floyd live 3 times between 1970 & 75’. Absolutely unforgettable & epic treat!!!
Best era of the band 1965 to 1977.
Best band. Period.
Respect for The Wall mate. Masterpiece.
I prefer '87 to '94.
@@marccosta7376 I assume he does not like it because it is depressing.
@Xtra Spice Mikey 2 things bud
1. that is subjective and not a fact
2. they recorded it in 1978 too and performed it live in 1980 and 1981
Atom Heart and Echoes were my go to when I had a hard time going to sleep for decades. If I didn't fall asleep I would just melt into the music.
Love your comment

Im so hapoy that those recordings are not lost or anything. They are actually quite rare to find. Hearing ricks keyboard...
I love how they started playing in the daytime and the song is over at night.

Funniest comment on the net!
Indeed! I wish there was more of that from Roger
I was 12 in 1971, But I was listening to Pink Floyd with my 26 yr old brother, may he rest in peace. He introduced me to so much music.
you were as the same age as my dad, respect your taste of music
@ awwwwww thanks.
To think that Roger and David detest this masterpiece. It's ambitious and dynamic imo, and I wish it got the recognition more of their material does, not just the song, but entirety of the album
It's an amazing album. Severely underrated among Pink Floyd albums.
This song and the album as a whole is a masterpiece in my opinion. I wish there were more live recordings of Atom Heart Mother.

@Psychedelic Mind
It's all about dynamics!

There will never be another band like Pink Floyd. So unique. No disrespect with other bands in the world. It is not for everyone
No. They need you to turn em ON.
I Agree. There is music,, then there is Pink Floyd. Modern classical, eternal music for all of time
The conditions will never be the same ❤

A high-quality master film for this video was discovered, and a new document film was also discovered. They will be released only in Japan in August 2021.
Oooh. Hope we get to see it.

This is a pretty big deal as there were only a few live recordings of AHM.
There’s plenty of unofficial live recordings. This being one of them just synced to random film of the event they had lying around
This site has just about everything you want out of the Floyd: floydpodcast.com/
There was loads LOL
unofficially
I am guessing you mean video recorded performances ?? As Atom Heart was bootlegged to buggery.
@@toddsleezer3580 there are plenty really good recordings of the in the flesh tour
i like this version more than the one with the full orchestra
I agree 100% I love their vocals
The video may be from Japan 71, but the music was recorded at San Diego, 1971.. I have the bootleg
thank you ! I was wondering why rog was screaming in silence
@@AliciaB.To be fair, that does sound like something Roger would do.

The sound on this is absolutely fantastic!! Thank you sooo much for this!! ❤❤
Great way to start the weekend! Pink Floyd
I smell Syd in this one. He may not be in the band at the time but I can feel him in the music. Great piece of music. Fat Old Sun shows Davids' ability real well.

Please live healthy, live long David you are my hero since I saw you in Dortmund with The Wall with "Comfortably Numb" 2. Solo; top on the wall. February 18, 1980 !
My heart stood still for a second when you appeared up on the wall and played your 2nd solo. Long life SIR David Gilmour,
Yup and I we also need to hope that they get back together
First Mick Mason, now Nicki lol.
Exactly what I was thinking lol
Hahahaha poor Nick
Watching the names go across I thought, “Wow! They actually got them all correct, for once.”
Then Nicki popped up.😆
Cant they tell it a bloke at the drums and not some tart
I think the Japanese at that time didn't know the Latin alphabet and English much more than they do now.
This was like, quite literally the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. To see the band I am obsessed with so candidly for me is very humbling. They are just so irreplaceable in my life, don’t know how I would do it with out ya. Long live Pink Floyd 🤍✨🎸
I feel the same way.
Thank you RUclips from bottom of my heart for bringing us this historical materials we might never be able to experience it without you..
We just saw Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets in Melbourne playing a medley of Atom Heart Mother and If from the same album. It was a shortened version (perhaps not a bad thing) but it made us realise that it's a piece of music with real weight and power, and some beautiful moments. The band's negative opinions of it may be coloured by the difficulties they had recording and performing it, but I think it's due for a reappraisal. Certainly the crowd reaction suggested it still has many fans.
I was there too 👍🏻
And a great gig it was@@mattykay7852
Nice to see the band has taken up travel vlogging
This is pure GOLD
amazing and without an orchestra it sounds incredibly perfect :*
Its better without the orchestra.
Absolutely wonderful 🎸
AHM is probably my favourite Pink Floyd album. Love seeing and hearing live footage of it!
2、3回の日本後援にも行きました。青春でした。(秋田、71才)
This footage is amazing
Really need to invent a time machine. Would have loved to see this concert.
I went on Pink Floyd binge n 73 and must have played Atom Heart mother 100's of times. "If" is still one of my favorite PF songs (but Meddle is still my favorite album). And I can't tell you how real "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" was. Anyone that lived through the late 60's and early 70's knows what I'm talking about.

Atom Heart Mother was the First album that l heard about Them....👍👍👍👍 Pink Floyd Forever!

I actually have this on DVD from years ago. The site is off of a favorite early morning running route of min around along lake Ashinoko. I believe around a ropeway that goes up to a modest hill (versus the one that goes up to Owakidani onsen).

Why can no group ever get any kind of psych sound as they pioneered? Gratitude!!
Never got the chance too see the floyd live though the Roger waters us n them tour was probably the best experience of my life other than the birth of my two kids. ⚒️🏭🐖🌈🎫
What kinda epic children do you have to make them better than a Roger Water concert?

So glad I heard The Wall when I was 9.❤😮😊
So nice to be at the concert in the Westfalenhalle in Dordtmund in Gernany in 1981 or 1982.
Господи, спасибо Тебе за эту музыку и за это время!!!
Really interesting to hear this song played by just the 4 piece. Personally I prefer this version.
I had a bootleg of this that I got off Napster back in 99 that was just the 4 of them. I can’t remember where it was from.
My point is that when I heard it with the orchestra on the album the first time, it seemed way overdone to me.
I know what you mean, but don't mind the album version a bit. It's what I listened to via massive headphones from a Pioneer Stereo a thousand times throughout the 70s.
@@bdoehner ruclips.net/video/lP2TBoruv9g/видео.html&ab_channel=TheHeho I've literally listened to every Bootleg from '70 to '74 (send help pls) and this band only version I posted above is my absolute favourite by far. Ricks cosmic organ jam starting at 13:40 was just played for the first half of 1970, then they dropped/changed it. I still can't understand why, it's soo awesome.
