I used to take similar walks. I never stayed in hotels. I gave the money to family there instead and stayed with them. I wanted to see and feel the real life. Go to the markets, See the sari sari stores. Smell the smells and hear the sounds of the real day to day activities. It was always interesting. There is always something going on and now I understand when people come to Canada and say where are all the people I understand them. Its so much more quiet here.
