Secretariate was functioning at Cuttack earlier. Although selection as capital at bbsr is not bad. But,it is benefitted to only coastal people for which now almost all parts of people of Odisha are now willing and staying at bbsr. But,it is matter of regret that it is not centrally located. In my view,Angul is the central place. Eastern people did not opted for Angul on the plea of communication. However there was no rail and proper rail communication from Angul as well as from western part of Odisha. It was a political choice of the then leaders giving no importance to other corners of people of Odisha.
Today I think Odisha govt should think about a second capital of Odisha. Sambalpur is the best place which deserves to be the second capital of Odisha as infrastructure of sambalpur is gradually increasing as New IIM already here, in future there is a very probably chance of AIIMS and IIT here. Rail line connectivity is well developed. If Govt is giving more emphasize then VSS Airport will be become another big International level Airport .
It was Maharaj Krushna Chandra Gajapati the first Prime Minister of Odisha who made Bhubaneswar the Capital of Odisha and not Harekrushna Mahatab. You north Odisha lobby always try to discard the great efforts of Gajapati king of Parela khemundi who even had great role in establishing Utkal University. He attended The Round Table Conference at London & Convinced the British Government in recognising Odisha a linguistic province separating from Calcutta, Madras & Nagpur Presidency. Stop this selective filtering of historical information for the young generation Mahatab was a tout like Janaki babu who had sold half of Ganjam district including Ichhapur to Andhra pradesh by signing border treaty with Andhra Government. For south Odisha Mahatab is a traitor that too should be taught to young generation.
Rangeilunda which is adjacent to Berhampur and Gopalpur was the first preference for capital but due to negligence it couldn't happen... Harekrushna Mahatab was also responsible for that...
Even today the people of Cuttack believe that Odisha is Cuttack and the rest is their colony.They drowned the fertile rice bowl of Sambalpur Dist only to save themselves from the floody Mahanadi.
