Love the flashbacks. It reminded me that I need to make more boxes. Decoupage is an inexpensive way to upcycle. It can be more affordable than the more expensive transfers we all know and love. I learned not to long ago that you can also paint the back of your decoupage paper instead of painting your piece. I also learned that some projects look phenomenal without backgrounds painted in lighter colors. Some projects can look really great with dark backgrounds as well. It depends on the look you're going for. I always thought it was necessary to paint lighter backgrounds on the piece prior to doing decoupage. I learned both in the same video. It blew my mind when I seen it. I felt like it changed everything I knew about decoupage when I watched it. It just goes to show there is always more to learn and like you said, the possibilities truly are endless. Thank you so much for sharing that you can use the heat transfer method with the Liquid Patina. I cannot count how many times I have asked that question to other people and have never received an answer. That has been the one hold out for me on purchasing some. I hope you and your beautiful family are doing well.
Yes Melody! Roycycled is someone I love watching for decoupage tips and tricks! She knows so much and always has cool ideas. I love that you can also decoupage with several things like tissue paper and napkins. Doesn’t have to be the papers ❤️ so happy I could help with the liquid patina question

Love the box with the faux rubbed tin. Thought. The one section to the left made the front look like a flag. If someone didn't want the pull, you could add tin rusty stars so it wild make it like our flag!

These are all beautiful! You can either use clear wax over your paper to avoid wrinkles or you can use your heat gun while applying your medium or iron after it's dry as you did on the tag. Those options all work to avoid wrinkles. I've been the world's worst at figuring out the best way to decopauge and even took Royce's master class, because I was so frustrated with it all... I even tried using permanent glue stick instead of a medium and just ended up with terrible bubbles underneath no matter how much I made sure it was fully covered. I'm doing much better at it now and I know you'll figure out what works best for you as well ❤❤❤
Love all your projects. I have found if you let the top coat dry the bubbles usually disappear. I apply 2 coats of MP let it dry in between, when dry I use the hot iron, let it get completely dry then apply top coat. When it’s completely dry any bubbles or wrinkles caused by top coat usually disappear. Good luck!

I cannot remember for the life of me who I saw do this here on YT but a creator did the iron on method when decoupaging Roycycled decoupage paper. She then sealed the top of her decoupaged paper with DIY clear wax & she explained that using any water based sealer would absolutely defeat the purpose of using the iron on method because it wets (saturates) the decoupage paper causing wrinkles & bubbles. When she showed her project, which was a sign, it was absolutely flawless ‼️
Beginning of last week I did the iron method using DIY Liquid Patina. I decided that I was going to give the DIY clear wax a try. I sealed the entire project (paper) with the DIY clear wax. I admit, I was hesitant because I was afraid that the wax would not cure & it would leave a sticky like film over the paper. After applying the clear wax, I added DIY dark wax along the edges for shading & to age my project. The next day when I checked on it, the waxes had dried (of course they didn't cure because it was only a day later) & I was able to buff the wax back a little bit & then I decided to add a little more dark wax. Over the next couple of days & didn't have time to check on it. When I got back to it 3 days later, the entire piece had sealed just like how DIY paint seals when you apply the waxes. I brought the piece inside the house & hung it on the wall & I can easily say that it turned out to be one of my most favorite projects that I have ever done. It looked flawless 😍 Give it a try & let me know what you think 😊 I bet it solves your problem 😜❤️

I carefully listened but not sure if I understood. Do you put the liquid patina over the top after the underneath is dry or right after you do the underneath?!
I've been wanting to use that owl paper... Thought about using it on one of the cabinet doors I have but can't figure out how to make something that'll go with the other rainbow animals in my craft room... I will have to give it thought ❤
So you’ll put the liquid patina under your decoupage paper and then smooth it out. Allow it to dry and then put an additional coat on top of the paper to seal it 😍
